Old Fishing Store - Modular Building

The Story

The story for this modular building was that the Old Fishing Store is based upon the Christmas sets that are available. I liked the Christmas sets so I built this one on Lego Digital Designer (LDD). I really believe that this model could have a lot of genuine interest to fans of Christmas sets. This is the first of a series of modular buildings that I will be making.

Summary

The building consists of roughly 2160 parts and three floors: the main store, office, and lookout. I used the colors brown and sand green that gives it a realistic feeling. Three Mini-figures could be added such as a fisherman, the store keeper, one captain. And a lot of details.

Production Process of the Old Fishing Store

LEGO designer, Adam, is putting the last touches on the beautifully crafted Old Fishing Store before finalising the design. It's a fitting place for anyone looking to stock up on gear for their next big fishing trip!

Launch: Expected Fall 2017

Thank you for continuing to be engaging and supportive fans of LEGO Ideas. It truly drives us to look forward to next year.

Exprected Price for this set: ~100$/150$

Really interested to see the final piece count on this one.

bad placement of the built model, hiding the piece count...

More or less 2k?

much less than 2k, original project contained 2160 parts, the final project is significantly smaller than author's final vision. I would aim in around 1500 pieces.

The name is terrible imo.

I'm not particularly a fan of it either. There are more Creative options.
I feel like the final version looks more like "old fishing tourist stop" than "old man in the sea"

I love it and will buy 1 on day 1. However, due to recent LEGO sales, do we wait to buy more at the 11th hour when at 50% and tagged?

LEGO.... You don't have to make 10,000,000 of these and place them on every retail shelf on Earth, just your stores only will suffice. We need to have some exclusivity back!

Day 1 buy to build as well maybe get a few for a larger version. Who cares what they call it @MarleyMoose you won't buy it for another 10-15 years when you find it on CL in some kids trunk who went to college and his mom is selling all his old lego ;) just messing with you.

2000 small pieces and no numbered bags that should be fun.

I'm going way under, I bet it ends up around 1200 for $99.

Just for fun, it would be great to have a proper flagship Ideas set with 2k pieces but I understand they have other objectives. Apollo is going to be the highest piece count set so far but this one should have more smaller parts.

Apollo could be a really cool one to do what you're saying and have a flagship $199 type of set.

If any set made me buy at RRP to invest again, Apollo would be the one but ONLY if it's truly exclusive.

Jeez these IDEAS sets are getting ridiculous expensive nowadays.
I've got this feeling I'm gonna miss old times with 40GBP per set soon enough.

Adventure Times and Beatles are still good value.

That is why I've decided to apply a diversity policy in terms of purchasing sets from UK and Poland.

Entire lineup for Architecture and recently for Ideas cost me less in about 15-20% RPP in straight comparison between PL and UK SaH in almost evry surface.
Yellow Submarine costs 220PLN which is eq to 45GBP for basic price, thanks to sinking Titanic Pound Sterling. Normally would be about 40gbp.
Can't complain anyway.

and still getting 15=20% more VIP points with every single purchase. (different calculation)

Do you see any mojo in Adventure Time? To me it seems so utterly ridiculous that only 3 people of Earth will buy more than one and LEGO wil cull it early due to poor sales. Hence, it'll be a huge winner, but don't buy >1 until it's -50% and tagged.

With what happened this year, that´s going to be the IDEAS dilemma going forward.

The wait-for-discounts strategy worked a treat with Doctor Who and Ecto but you would have missed out on Wall-E, TBBT and Maze.

Tesco's 3-for-2 helped me out a lot with WALL-E & TBBT, I avoided the maze like most of us. Doctor Who resale prices are pointing up a bit and we just need all the <RRP stock to disappear. If Tesco ever repeat 3-for-2, I'm only buying IDEAS & Architecture.

I wonder when Brickset will change the set-number they're using for the Old Fishing Store. On Brickset it's still listed under #21309 while the box-shot shows #21310. I'm guessing the Apollo 11 Saturn V set will be #21309 and hopefully come out this Spring...

I've bought 80 sets this year across a range of sets, prices and sizes. Architecture and Ideas are definitely my strongest performers. Tesco may not have 3 for 2 on the horizon, but they've had some great prices recently (Louvre £36, Capitol £66). The prices have crept back up again.

Well I can see that the boxart is leeked out from my first set the Old Fishing Store I hope that every body like the box.

The brick count is still hiding behind the store.

Brick on!
