  • Those clearance stickers probably have a small exclusion list on them that includes LEGO Construction Sets.

  • Gotta love it when the manager of the local TRU calls you and asks if you want all the leftovers from the BB-8 build....

  • I know it's a hassle but you need to pre-calculate your purchases when applying multiple discounts before heading to the register. More often than not, the cashier will screw up the series of button p

I don't understand the price hike especially when there's a 20% off coupon on page 1 that doesn't expire until the 30th. If I'm correct, the hike didn't happen until the friends promo started. Someone please explain.

Only one of the promotions was a chain-wide distribution intended to be used by almost all their customers.

And that's all I need to say about that.

I would say it had more to do with the coupon working online.  Many peeps can't find most of these in their local store, so being able to use it online woulda probly poofed any $150+ set.

Can confirm that the Slaves sitting on my store are still 199.99. Contemplating picking up two more tomorrow with 20% + truth. Already have four...

Saw a poster at my Toys R Us tonight advertising a kids' build event for May the 4th (actually it will be on Sat. May the 7th)... build a tiny 'advent-calendar-size" Millennium Falcon.  I didn't get a picture, but did a quick search online and I see the same thing advertised for TRU Canada one week prior (on April 30th)... see link.

This micro MF looks better than the one from last year (was it SDCC? ).  At least you know this one is from OT ;)

Aside from the base , it is pretty similar .

You mean, it also looks like a MF if you squint your eyes? The SW Celebration one is a totally different build - no studs on top etc. I would have wanted the mandibles to stick out one more stud but I think that build looks better than the TRU one.

How about this one? Another option from Europe, which I found while travelling there.

Now that's a GREAT Millenium Falcon! I like the 2015 Advent Calendar one too, btw.

Just wondering if there is a way to check availability of stock (Slave 1 in this case) other than visiting TRU store? TIA!

Try the "Find in Store" for your Zip Code

Ah.. why didn't I think about this. Thanks! Out of stock in my area. Saved gas and time. :)

... ha... might not be so simple... When I use the "find in store", it often says zero, when they actually have 1 or 2 in stock. Now in the case of Slave 1, most of the 8 stores near me don't carry it... never have... but one higher volume / busier store did show in stock a few weeks ago.  I couldn't make the trip back then. Last week when I checked "find in store", it said they had sold out.  But I had time so I decided to go check it out anyway, and sure enough, there was one for me on the shelf when I got there.  I guess if you think a store might have stock, your best bet is to call that store before wasting gas.

I checked the stock online which said "item not stocked" for my store, and called just to be sure. Lady had NO idea what a slave 1 was, poor thing. Needless to say when I checked in person the same day they had 2 minty ones on the shelf. Might be worth a drive.

We might be intimately familiar with which print version of a specific brick is in a given LEGO set, but most retail clerks in stores with 8,000,000 different items in it have no clue, especially when they would have to keep up with all the latest fads and collectibles that are also in stock. To get to the point: what I have noticed is that unless you find an employee dedicated to the LEGO section of the store, you'll get no better info from employees than you can get from their website. I had employees check the website for store inventory in their own store.... didn't help.

Exactly...if the website is inaccurate, and employees dont know what they are doing, then throw the kids in the car and go for a drive. My closest TRU is 40 mins away. I dont blink an eye at it. If I dont find anything then at least I had an hours worth of good conversation with my kids and maybe stopped somewhere on the way for a snack. Get out and enjoy it! And then write the mileage off your taxes!

wish the slave 1 wasnt jacked up 15% already..... found 2 stores in the area, went to one. boxes kind of beat up, price on shelf $229.99. i was able to use a $5 a day early, though with override, even though i told the cashier not to bother. both $5 and 20% do work along with TRUTH however TRU got smarter and got rid of some loopholes. One, if you combine $x with y% the value of $x will be diminished by y%. $5 with 20% will only reflect $4 off on your receipt. the other, rewards are counted only on the amount you actually charge on the CC as opposed to the full value of items before discounts as it did in the past (this changed a while back).
