Now that the FRIENDS20 promo is over, the larger exclusive sets are back on the website.  And it looks like they used the weekend downtime to jack the prices WAY up.  If they were going to move the prices that much, should've just kept them on the website for FRIENDS20, as they'd still be well above retail.

I figured that would happen.  Maybe they will auto adjust with the weekly sales reset on saturday.  but it would not surprise me at all to see them just sit at the jacked up prices.  The thing that surprised me the most is they included all the ideas sets, which are not exclusive, and were available in store.

Overall Friend20 was a bust form me, nothing worth buying that I cant get in store with 20% coupons on TRUTH....

I liked it because I get get a bunch of smalls in one shot, apply the 20% off the entire order/purchase.  No fuss, no muss...

Was originally thinking the same thing, but have been cutting back on the small sets unless they are great deals.  New speed champs were tempting but a long hold, and the older ones were mostly out of stock.  Plus all my GC have been going to baby gear for the past couple months, so im limited there...

Any word on TRU may the 4th sales? with the add leak, and LEGO Shop at Home starting on saturday, I figured we would have some details by now.

Phew...been waiting for some of those hard to find items to make their way back onto the TRU website after they ghost faced the 20% off party before the festivities even began. No worry folks nothing to see there...you may remember such goodies as the GBHQ or the SOH....GBHQ is $454, SOH is $519, they have a Red 5 listing, a tumbler listing (oos of course) S1 is up to $298 and PS is $198. Keep up the great work TRU web team. Heck of a job.

I'm thinking this is what happened:

1) TRU wanted to do a 20% off promo, but (yes I blame this thread, @exciter1) thanks to the clever coupon printing folks they know how much money they'll be losing on exclusives and other hoarded sets so the executive brass says "we need to make it impossible to buy hard-to-find items with this coupon, or else we'll bleed to death". Some folks over in middle-management get their running orders.

2) Mid-management has the team work on a few scenarios on how to avoid this rampage. Simplest plan gets the go-ahead first "let's just mark up the price on those items so that after 20% discount they are back at normal price". This gets implemented.

3) Come Monday (or whatever day it was the promo went live) mid-management gets feedback from CS or Marketing saying these prices are causing a lot of upset. They quickly ask the IT guys to implement plan B: just delist all the HTF items from the website. This gets done pronto.

4) Promo is over. Everyone has forgotten the crazy price-hike idea. IT resets the flag on the HTF items and they reappear. Lo-and-behold, with crazy pricing from point 2 still in place.

Prediction: Within 24hrs those prices go back to normal, unless there's another 20% off going on (and didn't we see one), in which case - depending on the success of the FRIENDS20 promo and the HTF-disappearing-act - we might see those items go into hiding again.

To members who think this price hike + coupon is a new thing for TRU, all I can say is get used to it.   TRU has been doing this type of behaviors for years.  Just go back and look at the "I hate TRU" posts (on other threads) from years past

Can anyone confirm as of this week, the in store price of the Slave 1? I know last week before the start date of the Friends and Family 20% coupon the price was still $230 in store even when they raised the online price to $298. I only saw the higher price online because I asked a TRU member if they had it in store (they didn't have any in store) and when he looked online it was $298 even though I had bought 1 from another store the same day for $230.

TRU always jack up prices during those sales . Blaming this thread for this is a bit of an overstretch. Now once coupons are discontinued , then yeah , I blame BA

It's come back down to $199.99 online (prior to the sale) already more than once...

Ive asked the manager at my TRU to price adjust back to the original price on a number of occasions and was able to use 20% plus TRUTH without any problems.

I don't understand the price hike especially when there's a 20% off coupon on page 1 that doesn't expire until the 30th. If I'm correct, the hike didn't happen until the friends promo started. Someone please explain.
