I've got a quick question guys. I made about $300 in purchases on the last Saturday before Christmas on my TRU card (various toys not all lego), but I don't see 10% off reflected anywhere on my statement or online, for any of the purchases. How does this get credited? Thanks.

If your purchase was in store the cashier has to press a button to activate the discount once you inform them that you are using the TRU card for the extra 10%. I always politely inform them, otherwise most will forget to activate it. This is especially true around the holidays when the stores are staffed with a lot of temporary seasonal help. If the discount does not show at the bottom of your receipt then take them into a store and hopefully it's not too late to get a price adjustment. Good luck.

edit...yeah, what bold-arrow said.

  • Those clearance stickers probably have a small exclusion list on them that includes LEGO Construction Sets.

  • Gotta love it when the manager of the local TRU calls you and asks if you want all the leftovers from the BB-8 build....

  • I know it's a hassle but you need to pre-calculate your purchases when applying multiple discounts before heading to the register. More often than not, the cashier will screw up the series of button p

Thank You Bold Arrow & Terrymc. Good info. I didn't know it was immediately reduced, I figured it would show on the statement.

I'll try to get it credited back. Thanks again

The only thing I would add is ask for a manager and be very polite and patient.

OH! and check your receipt before leaving the store.

I know this question has been answered for you but I just wanna let you know that going forward, you must tell the cashier every single time that you'll be using your TRU CC & that you'd like the extra 10% discount if it's on a Thursday (or one of the special Saturdays). It sounds ridiculous (& it is) but they say that it's required of the customer to let the cashier know how to do their job. That last bit is my translation...

TRU Credit Card 10% Saturdays have ended now? I know 10% Thursday is still going on. Please only reply if you know for certain.

When they start arguing with you over pressing a special button for 10% off (ie. "the machine will take care of it automatically" snarky remark), just patiently have them call one of the assistant managers to help.

That is pretty ridiculous. I bet it is planned, though.

Kind of like how McD's "forgets" to give you the BBQ sauce every time. They probably save millions on BBQ sauce every year...

YES SATURDAYS -10% HAS ENDED.

Yeah, that's a given. I just calmly ask if they selected 10% off (if the purchase is large or complicated enough that I didn't calculate what the total should be in advance) and if they say "automatic blah blah," I then calmly explain, if it's not done properly, I'll have to go to the customer service desk to return the items and then get the proper discount.

Does anyone track clearance, special sales, etc on their calendars?  (I keep telling myself I need to do this... but then I don't). ToysRUs had a winter clearance last year didn't they?  When Mech Dragons were cut to $19.98...Anyone have a date of when this happened?  I can't look that far back at the Daily Deals... I didn't buy MechDragons, but I did get 75025 Jedi Defender about that same time (my spreadsheet says Jan 29th).  Can anyone pin those dates down?

Just wondering if they might clear some stuff out again soon.  My store has a dozen or so LOTR sets that need to get marked down 50%.

Looking over my spreadsheet, I bought my MechDragon's last February, mid-month.  I would suspect that we'll have some sort of sales going on next month then.

Are there any new 20% or 15 or 10% coupons we can used that someone uploaded here?

the new one stated "baby item only" work on baby toys. I got 20% off from a baby jumper. i try to ask him to try on Lego and he refuse to scan. anyone tired and what is the result?

Looks like we need to go to the cashier with a big Lego set, and a $1.99 pacifier, and hand them the coupon... see what happens.

I CAN OFFICIALLY CONFIRM - The Coupon does NOT work on LEGO. I got a small set and a small baby item (priced less than the set) and it discounted the baby item.

^ thanks for taking one for the team.

I can officially confirm there was nuttin' worth getting at a measly old TRUTH 10% at my tru.

Dangit.  Every time 'TRUTH' tactics pops up on my feed, I get excited thinking maybe someone found a coupon that makes shopping there worthwhile.  But alas...

Signs up for a free swamp police helicopter with $30 purchase. No love?
