September 20, 20169 yr What's up with smyths recently? They have some more voucher codes going, usually I would say it's good when stores have lots of sales/discounts but are smyths doing bad financially? Maybe I'm over thinking it and they just love the amount of spending they get during these promotions Valid until 27th September Edited September 20, 20169 yr by Mhd747
September 20, 20169 yr I think shops just want to clear shelves in time for new Christmas stock. Certainly seems that way with supermarkets. They put lego sets on sale until there's enough room for new ones then stop.
September 20, 20169 yr I've reached my budget for Lego investing and I've run out of storage space in the loft. Pretty much reached the quota for all the sets I want to invest in. It's now a waiting game for me with the inventory I have.

Had some sets from the lego movie, TMNT, some second hand technic sets that I built that no longer want. Also just selling some minifigures series sets to raise some cash. Not good to just buy buy buy.

September 20, 20169 yr Argos and Amazon only sell the smaller sets which I have enough of so the Argos 3 for 2 won't interest me - thank god. I expected some sets I bought at the beginning of the year to retire by the end of the year but they seem to be still going strong like Ewok Village and Sandcrawler.

I've sold thousands of items this year and NEVER been invited to the £1 FVF ;-( I've given them over £4,000 in fees this year and they've given me bugger all in return - not happy! Can you please IM me with how you were notified unless you're selling far more than I am - thanks!

Do they place a message on My eBay or do they send you an email? Sorry to sound thick but, am I just looking in the wrong place? I'm the biggest eBay seller that I know (over £400,000 in sales since 2001) and I've NEVER been given a scrap of an offer! All they do is take, take, take. At least it's a hundred times better than selling on Amazon - they're getting more anal by the minute and I'm closing my Amazon account once my current listings sell. Still my bread & butter sales are local word-of-mouth cash deals.

However, this doesn't get nearly as far up my nose as charging FVF on postage - that's just a rip off IMHO. How dare they charge FVF on something that we don't make a profit on? Selling a set bought for £50 for £100 now only yields £17 profit after postage, fees and tax - No wonder so many of us are either bailing out or selling in other ways. The greedy nature of eBay is the biggest single hurdle and threat to LEGO investing!

I agree but i think they began charging fees on postage because so many were pricing their items cheap and charging 40 or 50 quid for postage to make up the rest
September 20, 20169 yr Yeah, a lot of ebays started doing that to combat ridiculous shipping fees. Some of them haven´t yet but they raised the limit for flat rate commission fees on sales instead. What´s worse is the way they oblige you to use paypal as a payment method.

I only charge actual postage cost and don't charge at all for packing materials hence, I'm annoyed about the postage FVF. I'm thinking of starting a petition to complain about the FVF on postage and then send the results to eBay, trading standards, Watchdog & MoneySavingExpert. If only FaceBook had a HATE button? Then again, I may post a clip on YouTube and get as many thumbs down as possible. Sorry to derail as I was on my soap box - last eBay rant on this thread! September 20, 20169 yr This is going off-topic but I was wondering if any of you have a courier account? I'd rather my own account rather than using Parcel2Go. I used to have a Parcelforce account 12 years ago. Do you what generally the minimum volume couriers require for an account? Most interested in DPD.

I mainly use discounted DPD though a mate who owns a company but, you need to shift hundreds of boxes a week on your own account unless you can piggy-back like I do. DPD are good and I also use Collect+ for convenience as I only have to walk just around the corner! You really need to shift volume for any decent discounts. I also have a mate who works for Royal Mail and he gets no discount at all apart from 50x First Class stamps at Xmas! I know a lot of eBayers and most of those that offer free postage either shift huge volumes or piggy-back off other accounts. To show this is back on topic... There really aren't any deals on POSTING LEGO in the UK ;-)

Perhaps your private Account doesn't receive any of those invitations because your private and your business account are linked in their database. Most probably this invitation is only sent to members, who usually sell items on ebay. That is the reason why your private account doesn't receive an E-Mail. Only assumptions.
