One Day Flash Sale (UK Only) MF at £149.99. Be Quick.

  • One thing I have noticed is that sets are plateauing at "a" price at n months after retiring. 10197 is around £300, it still has not increased in the 18 months since I sold my last one. 10211

  • Though this version totally blows the original away (and is from around where I live):

Was just in TRU, BBT in my local has a shelf label of £17.99 (64% off), only 2 on shelves so bought both and used £5 off £30 voucher to get for £15.49 each (69%).

I wasn't going to touch BBT as doesn't seem like a good pick, but at 70% off I would arm sweep.

Not sure if this is national but might be worth a shot

Nice find. Must be a pricing error surely? I think BBT will be the next Ideas set to go. Whatever that means these days.

Normal price in Ilford.

Full price in my local store too, therefore great find. I've also not bothered too much with this set, wasn't sure it had the fan base to go big eol. That said, I've rarely seen it discounted much more then 10% in comparison to other idea sets, so if it's a sleeper it may turn out to be a gold nugget.

Is Lego having a 20% sale on the 17 - 18th this month ? Heard a few saying so... Are we talking a 20% sale on everything including exclusives etc..

Smyths is doing 20% off at the weekend, they do these sales every year around this time.

Normal at TRU Merry Hill

-50% on second star wars product at Maxitoys (France, Luxembourg, Belgium and Switzerland). So essentially -25% on all Lego Star Wars. Unfortunately they don't carry any exclusives (at least not online).

I went to case out my local Smyths stores an hour before they closed to check what stock they had for the 20% discount tomorrow. Plenty of Slave I which is what I'm after. There is no bulk buying allowed but I'm hoping I can get away with buying 2 from each store.

Get a fake mustache to wear.

This set is going to go one of two ways, either go 2/3 RRP once retired or say at RRP due to lots of supply and low demand.

I think we know who 90% of the supply will be coming from

There were staff in both my local Smyths store putting new Lego stock on the shelves in preparation from tomorrow. Do the popular big sets sell out fast out of interest? I was planning on going back in the evening when hopefully there was a change of staff. Couldn't pull off a fake disguise!

That 'In-Store Only' Smyths' ad presumably means no 20% discount ordering for online delivery?

If so, that means getting favours from friends to go in for a LEGO run too to get around their 3 max per exclusive limit which is a hassle.

Another seller told me last year he was asked to produce ID in-store as they were suspicious he was from another toy shop availing of the discounts.

They've shut down click and collect until 21st Sep and gbhq is oos in most stores dammit.

Its worth checking your local stores. Smyths system isn't 100% accurate. I've managed to find sometimes 2-3 of a set which was showing as OOS on the website for that store.

Yep I noticed that to! I'll try and pick up an EV, PS and maybe a S1 but I feel this will still be around this time next year to benefit from the deal then. I'm not sure what else takes my fancy, I presume the batcave and Ninjago temple will go back up to RRP. Everything else is at RRP anyway, so 20% will pretty much take sets back down to what you could have got them for earlier on in the year.

I think the real dilemma is if any of the big exclusives that smyths sell (GBHQ, porsche, EV, batcave or slave 1) will retire anytime soon.

I've only bought the big sets for personal build as trying to judge when exclusives retire now is very difficult, so even if you manage to get a EV or slave 1 etc at 20% off, the real question is was it worth tying up money for 1-2 years, when that same £3-400 can be spent on smaller sets and you have a better cagr

Decisions, decisions...

Yeah I'm 99% sure the Porsche will still be around, and that's a big old lump to store. The only thing that concerns me with all this is the quality of Smyths boxes, maybe it's just my local store but each time I'm in there I take a look, and the boxes always have some sort of damage. Plus with the exclusives you have to get the guy on the ladder to pull them off the top shelf, and then keep handing them back to him until you find a mint one. "Sorry mate, my son is really particular about the quality of his boxes"!!!

Yeah I get this a lot although I've never really felt the need to justify why I want a pristine box. Been luck with boxes at Smyths lately though.

It's a fair point. I've been waiting for sets like EV and SC to retire since the beginning of the year. I just find it too difficult to call. I personally prefer larger sets as there is less effort selling 1 set worth £200 than 5 smaller sets.
