I think if any set has been over-horded recently, it's probably this one

I think the most overhoarded set is one called Death Star 10188 :P

One Day Flash Sale (UK Only) MF at £149.99. Be Quick.

  • One thing I have noticed is that sets are plateauing at "a" price at n months after retiring. 10197 is around £300, it still has not increased in the 18 months since I sold my last one. 10211

  • Though this version totally blows the original away (and is from around where I live):

The embarrassing thing is...i sold all of mine for good £ just before the new one was mentioned. Used up all my luck for a few years there!

Anyway, back on topic! Where are the deals?

It's interesting that we're getting this discount instead of 2xVIP. €10 off the price of a Sandcrawler or Slave 1 isn't much to write home about. And most of the cheaper sets can be found discounted elsewhere.

Isn't 2xVIP planned for October?

The article doesn't mention it. Perhaps you can try the Austrian one? :-P

Percentage wise it's not interesting on larger sets. And non-exclusives can pretty easily be found cheaper elsewhere indeed. Which leaves the cheaper exclusive sets, like the Ideas sets (pretty exclusive in The Netherlands). Except then you have to deal with additional shipping when it's below €55 which negates the discount.

So, basically that leaves a window for exclusive sets that can't be found in regular stores (no risk for future discounts) and with a LEGO Shop at Home price between €66 and ... €90 in order to maximise the €10 discount.

There's nothing worth using the €10 for in this range at the moment, not unless you think something you want will be out of stock next month when the London Bus promo is on.

I went for the 76056-1: Batman: Rescue from Ra's al Ghul twice. I think it has investment potential and I cannot get it somewhere else.
