September 2, 20169 yr Smyths Shelves are pretty full in my local store, couldn't resist the falcon at £75!!
September 2, 20169 yr Just collected a Sandcrawler from Toys R Us for £200 and ordered a Temple of Airjitsu for £116. That's a great saving on the Temple, although it may still be around for quite a while. I may do something drastic one day and actually build the thing as it's a beauty.
September 2, 20169 yr Amazon Price matching has started £18.99 for Doctor Strange. limit 3. Others coming online.
September 2, 20169 yr I was initially excited when I saw temple of airjitsu for sale, however over the past few weeks I'm starting to like it less and less. I think it's a great set, however not sure how it will perform once retired. 1) It's Ninjago not star wars, main target market is kids, who I doubt will pay top dollar once goes retired. 2) it's a playset, which most of times usually perform less than vehicles. 3)I've never watched the cartoon so not sure if it plays an important role in it, but with the ninjago movie coming out there is most likely going to be another big set which should be based on the movie, so this set might be forgotten about. 4) there's only been a handful of sets from ninjago which have been great "winners" 5) no dragon maxi fig one positive is it would fit nicely into a "asian" / japanese section of a lego city. I've personally found that more often than not, ninjago sets have less demand post retirement, even though it may not be horded much. That being said, if there is still stock at my local Smyths on Monday I may buy one, but I'm going to sleep on it as I rather buy some more sets instead. Sorry for long post lol

September 2, 20169 yr Had a good look through these offers and anything I was hoping to make use of has had their price increased, so even with 20 quid off, its still costing more that when they were on their usual price. Might print a few discounts off and go minifig hunting with my daughter tomorrow, but wont be rushing to buy anything until 20% off. Mostly because i spent my quota on price matching tescos clearance in TRU a few weeks ago.
September 2, 20169 yr Picked up 3 Dr Stranges. Not really bothered by the set, but i want the tentacles to build a rathtar. I'll just sell the minifigs and keep the bricks. Edited September 2, 20169 yr by Fenix_2k1

Is the £20 off £100 worth bothering with for big sets well over £100 with the 20% discount coming up? Does anyone have an approximate date when its going to be?

Does anyone have an approximate date when its going to be? Don't know the date yet. However, the superheroes and ninjago are discounted already by 20% (and I bet they won't be as soon as the 20% discount throughout the store arrives) so I went for the BatCave and Temple of A with the extra discount. Incidentally, if you use the printed coupons in store, they may get shirty if you're buying more that one lot of items over the price limit (£20, £50 and £100) as it does say only one coupon per person/household per day. However, if you make the orders in separate lots online, even for click and collect, you can just keep going as many times as you want. I also did this for a few small sets to take it up to three lots just over £20. It say's free delivery over £29, but even though each of my batches came in under £20 with the discount they didn't charge me delivery. Just spent £300 I wasn't expecting to do! Oops!
September 2, 20169 yr Re Shipping. Lego qualifies for free shipping at anything over £15 at Smyths. I did the same thing when ordering hulkbusters. Amazon are matching now if you want 3 without hassle. Although Hulkbuster and Dr Strange on back order.
September 2, 20169 yr Just popped into smyths and bought series 16 minifigs, I tried to use more than one voucher but got told only one per household so I'll just get stuff delivered home. Supposedly 20% off everything starts on 17th/18th, however if you want to buy ninjago temple or batcave buy now as staff mentioned prices would go back up to RRP

This doesn't seem like such a great deal. I was looking at the LEGO Ninjago Misfortune’s Keep 70605 for my nephew which has been discounted to £55.99. The Amazon price is £45.99 so I'd be better either buying it from Amazon with 5% NUS Extra discount or even more through Flubit.
September 2, 20169 yr It all depends on what set you are thinking about buying, obviously. I've hardly seen any offers on the Temple of Airjitzu, so to get 20% off and another £20 at the same time, you'll do well to see it discounted again like that before it retires one day. For many other sets, yeah, you can probably get a similar deal elsewhere. All depends on what you're after.
September 2, 20169 yr I took the plunge and bought the Batcave at Smyths, I had been mulling over this one with the 20% off deal they are currently running so the extra £20 off sealed the deal. I asked the shop assistant about the 20% off deal for Septemeber and her reply was "we are not allowed to say anything" In my opinion thats the green light to say its happening. Noticed Ghostbusters Firehouse is now listed on the Smyths website, might worth a punt during the 20% off deal.

GBHQ is a buy for me but only for a personal build and only when its discounted enough.

Excuse my ignorance as I am new to this game and building up my inventory - Going on Smyths previous deals is there any likelyhood that GBHQ will have its price reduced further at a later date?

Unlikely to see more than 20%, but another worry would be a repeat of the Tumbler debacle.
September 2, 20169 yr Just picked up 3 Dr.Strange on 1-3 month back order now, I'll take back the 2 I bought earlier at TRU. Thanks for the heads up on those! Also went for the Helicarrier at £215 with 5% Quidco. That's my spending done for the year.
September 3, 20169 yr Just noticed that the Temple of Aritzu is back up for online @ Smyths for pre-order at the moment (20% off and then adding the £20 discount for this weekend) for those who want one and don't live near smyths. 3rd time lucky for me with these guys though. Every time smyths run some promotion I seem to have my online orders cancelled due to lack of stock, jokers (OT rant over). So cant comment on their packaging.
September 3, 20169 yr 42055 Lego Technic Bucket Wheel Excavator currently £123.99 at Argos (+6% CB via Qco). Lots available. Very early for a buy to keep, but might be good for Christmas sales (or personal build).
September 3, 20169 yr I was wondering if you're all buying the Temple of Airjitzu 70751 for investment or for personal builds. I've only ever bought Ninjago for my nephew and don't know if theme has investment potential. I was looking at this thread and it put me off buying it as an investment: Edited September 3, 20169 yr by Breeder

You have to make your own decisions on investment potential. However, it’s a lot of good figs and parts for the price. It’s OOS stock in both smyths near me and there are a couple of big brinklink stores in the vicinity. Take from that what you will Incidentally John Lewis are now price matching TRU exclusives. TB £190, Simpsons house £150 GBHQ £250. If you fancy delivery those with more chance of getting the set intact.

Its a decent discount so I'm tempted to take a speculative punt on it. Edited September 3, 20169 yr by Breeder

Think I'll wait for Smyths 20% discount promotion before pulling the trigger on the GBHQ. Already had my fill on Tower Bridge and The Simpsons House.
