One Day Flash Sale (UK Only) MF at £149.99. Be Quick.

  • One thing I have noticed is that sets are plateauing at "a" price at n months after retiring. 10197 is around £300, it still has not increased in the 18 months since I sold my last one. 10211

  • Though this version totally blows the original away (and is from around where I live):

This seems good since Prime Day isn't until tomorrow.

Keeping an eye on CamelCamelCamel and ready to pull the trigger really hard next time! ;-)

Typo

Another BN coupon up to 15% off entire order. Doesn't seem to work this time adding lego though.

I think you meant to post in the US...

WTF! Did you not notice the Lego City sets in your basket??

What a huge disappointment! I was waiting for midnight to pass (bloody superstition or what not, 12th July is my name-day) and all Amazon UK discounted products that I had in my basket ready-to buy (also around 300£) went back to their original prices with pathetic offer of 6£ discount valid on a single item!

I am livid!!  #PrimeDaySucks

How come you're buying relatively newly released architecture & technic? Interested in your strategy on those

I thought exactly the same thing. Only Dr Who seems a good investment - the others will all be available at similar discounts down the road. I am especially wary of the Architecture sets that could be around for anything up to 5 years.

I'm the same, I looked at that list for ages, going why would I buy any of them and Doctor Who was the only one I considered and even then my previous Dr Who purchases have been cheaper so far, so I didn't bite. Now to go and buy another Poe's X-wing, dum di dum.

Mmm, not to rip someone else's purchases (you post them, we're allowed to comment), but i can also see Dr Who being available at that price or better down the line. I'm also less sure about the market for this one. But hey, i'm no expert!

Ok, so I'm new to this and have been reading the thread for a while. I've been collecting Lego for years and have a few classic sealed sets in the loft but I'd like to invest in some smaller sets. Any suggestions?

NB. Whilst the Venice set could be around for a while, at £16.99 it was probably worth a bite if you're willing to wait it out - just my view based on some of the older architecture pieces I've got.

There's a £5 promo code if you buy a £30 Amazon gift card as part of Prime Day. Nothing special, but it'll take that Poe's X-Wing under €50  :thumbsu:

I placed the Amazon order as we have 7 birthdays coming up over late Summer for the kids of friends/family. The only sets for me are the 3x Dr Who and 3x Venice. Have you noticed that the prices actually went up on Prime Day? I doubt that Venice will ever be that cheap again and Dr Who could be a good Xmas flip. Who know's (pun), it could be the next Delorean?

I still can't make my mind up whether to go for Darth Vader and Po's X-Wing.

Even though I've been slagging off CITY sets, I have been doing quite well clearing supermarket shelves when I see them at >66% off. Eg. I recently bought 16x service trucks (with turdis on trailer) for £6 each from my local Sainsburys. I do get the odd strange look at checkouts but, I don\t care.

Feel free to comment, that's what this place is all about ;-)

Dr who has a large cult following in UK, so should do well after retirement. It won't perform good in North America as it is nowhere near as big there.

What's the most you've ever bought from a single store? I recently bought 10 LEGO Ninjago Dojo Showdowns (70756) and got really weird looks, but like you said you shouldn't care what others think.

Damn & blast!

I was about to order 3x Po's X-Wing and those bar stewards just hiked the price back up to £68.69 as I was checking out. The second time this has happened within 24hrs. At least I know not to bother with Prime Day again.

I think Amazon must run some sort of pricing algorithm once stock gets low.

TRU have Poe’s at £44.99 in-store (no longer available for delivery)
Tesco have it at £50 and change if you need more, as it’s looking like a last chance.

Got Poe's X-Wing for £38.99 this morning, they had only a handful left at that stage compared to well over 100 the other day

My biggest ever single order was 99x Fire Brigade modulars from LEGO Shop at Home when the limits were 99. I shifted 97 at 2x profit and have 2 left for my collection. I just wish I had the space (and balls) to order 99x Super Star Destroyers and 99x Haunted Houses back then when it was possible. I've been to a lock-up of somebody who did just that and then some but, it's his own warehouse and has the space (and funds).

From a supermarket, I once took 2 trolley loads of half-price Friends sets to the checkout and got some very funny looks - about £800 cost in total. I had to sit on these sets for 2ys but, they are now moving at a good profit.

I'm not too worried as it's often discounted and I think it'll hang around for a little while yet.
