OK. I've created a thread now for TRU gift card UK discussion.

Hopefully a mod can move the relevant posts into the new thread.

One Day Flash Sale (UK Only) MF at £149.99. Be Quick.

  • One thing I have noticed is that sets are plateauing at "a" price at n months after retiring. 10197 is around £300, it still has not increased in the 18 months since I sold my last one. 10211

  • Though this version totally blows the original away (and is from around where I live):

Can I make a suggestion, this could be one of those things you end up talking about for ages, so maybe someone should start it's own thread and we can get one of the mods to move the rest of the TRU code posts there.

We can then try and keep this thread for the deals, few as they are at the moment.

Surely it's pertinent to this thread though, as it's a deal that's been botched by the retailer in at least two ways now.

There is no point whatsoever flagging up £10 off coupons as a deal if people then go on to find they're not worth the virtual paper they're printed on. Separating the two bits of information is unhelpful to the community.

For my part I've received codes and already used them, to buy more Lego. They worked fine.

The only outstanding issues on this subject now are: 1) what the ACTUAL expiry date is and 2) if they're stackable.

That isn't going to derail a thread excessively.

It's not really pertinent, the deal was that you got gift cards, that deal is over. This is the daily deals thread, as in what deal is available for us right now to grab.

This thread is being treated as a generic UK/Europe thread at the moment rather than as a deal thread.

Is 15% on 10242 Mini Cooper and 10220 VW Bus a buy?

A 15% discount on the 10242 has been more or less the default discount for the past months. Anyone who wanted the Mini Cooper would have bought it by now for €85 (instead of €100). If you want it for yourself then getting it at 15% discount now is okay. It's not recommended as investment though. This set may be comparable with the Sopwith Camel in investment value. More than a year after retirement that set is still only slightly above original RRP and it's not moving anywhere.

The 10220 T1 Camper is getting scarce here (in The Netherlands) and not offered on discount any longer. Stock of this set at stores other than the Lego LEGO Shop at Home has pretty much dried up everywhere. If you want it for your own collection, getting it at €85 now is most likely the lowest price you will find it for ever again. I don't think it's worthy as investment though, considering the long run of availability and the large stocks that have been hoarded over the years by the Brickpicker Horde. ;)

Regular price in Germany is 78,89 € right now. A few days ago the set was available for 73,89 €.

That´s less than DE RRP but don´t go telling any Dutch or French or they´ll throw themselves from a bridge!

How about an American living in France? Can he still go jump off a bridge? :)

This thread has gone very quiet, not major deals but for what it's worth:

Debenhams have 10-20% off Lego in UK and Ireland, they also have €5.00/£5.00 in reward points and €5.00/£5.00 voucher if you click and collect.

Mytoys.de have the Millennium Falcon for €119.99, with a 15% voucher you can get this down to €101.99, which is the cheapest I've seen for this so far.

On a slightly off topic note, any of our German colleagues know whether you have to have a German address to use Payback.de, can't see it online? Mytoys now gives Payback points.

Toys r us UK have quietly dropped price of Tower Bridge and Kwik E Mart again.

Got my fill of tower bridge and not sure about the simpsons sets but might be useful for someone.

I'm half tempted regards the Simpsons sets, I know many members on here haven't got high hopes for these sets post retirement, but if purchased at the right price I think they may do ok? I've been keeping an eye on ebay for both the house and Kwik E Mart for a 2nd hand set for my personal collection and they always achieve good money.  Worst case, I could always keep for myself, they look like a fun build.

Ohh dear all these deals, so little cash available. Would like to pick up another TB or a Simpsons or two but after yesterday's purchases and my slave 1 that I'll get this weekend to get the space slug I can't get these things :hot:

Millennium falcon at TRU is at 99.99 too. Not a bad price

I don't think I'm going to touch MF's for investment purposes.

This is probably the most hoarded sw set on the planet. People will qf them for tiny profits for at least a year after retirement and with the new films i don't think there'll be a big gap in mf releases unless it gets blown up in Episode 8.

This was said about the 7965 as well and that thing ended up making a lot of people a lot of money.

You’re not going to get a decent stock at 50% in UK, one or two maybe, 35-40% is probably the most realistic with the 3-2’s later in the year.   7965 was massively stocked and that did just fine over its life and is moving at £200 now.

When 7965 came out was there new SW films coming out annually that used ships from OT?  Were lego releasing new sw models 3 times a year? Were there as many investors or qfll's?

I just don't see this one doing anything like 7965. QFLL's will probably have a field day with it at xmas if stock goes low but it just doesn't appeal to me in n the new lego sw era.

Does any Brickpicker from Germany know if Galeria Kaufhof has any promotion / discount planned between Monday May 2nd and Wednesday May 4th ?

Sunday May 1st is International Worker's Day, and all is closed in Germany.
