February 1, 20196 yr Friends crapamaran now 50% off: So were the battery boxes, but I've just cleared them out ? Edited February 1, 20196 yr by TabbyBoy
February 1, 20196 yr Great to see The rest of EC got a head-start on the UK again, needless to say anything close to worthwhile was gone before kick off here.
February 1, 20196 yr I sold my stash of catamarans a few months back, buy in had been £27.50 each though - I wouldn’t buy them again now at half price.
February 1, 20196 yr And do we know the Santa brickhead is definitely retiring? I was told by SAH a few weeks ago that the licensed brick heads were all being retired, but we could expect ones like this, seasonal etc to be sticking around and there were no plans to do away with them altogether.

I think they're doing new seasonal sets this year although some of the seasonal sets from last year are still kicking around.
February 1, 20196 yr Considering how they have been whoring the "free" seasonal promos, I would not expect anything less than Santa coming back every Xmas.

I might be missing a trick here, but I don’t see the appeal of the promo being an incentive to pay RRP. It’s illogical. Apparently diagon alley is now available in stores at £18.99. The dog which was free last year is still available at £6.99. Nutcracker up until recently was available, I brought 20 at about £8. The pig will be in the same boat. Dont get me wrong, with some sets I get paying RRP and it may be needed. But I would wait for one of those times when offers are stacked. Having brought from sah before with two freebies, AND double VIP, I wouldn’t be buying say for example speed champions sets now, with the rest of the year at least to go. I had a non paying buyer **** me over with the 2 promos for this year I got really fast for once and that time lost meant the market got flooded with undercutters.
February 1, 20196 yr Please explain why there were high prices (and good profits) for the Santa Brickheadz before last Xmas? It can only be an indication of future value and they're so small that storage and waiting isn't a problem for me. Anyway, SaH have a generous returns window that I've used quite often.... without being banned! I returned a job lot of Mini Coopers when I heard about the cock-up with the rear window. Luckily I bought WALL-E after the neck fix or they'd have all gone back too! Of course, I sell those type of sets with "No Returns" and I've had no SNAD yet. Non paying buyers? That's why I only use BIN and Immediate Payment. Not one single auction over the last 6 months has exceeded my BIN price. If something HAS to go, it starts at 1p with free postage to guarantee a sale. The good thing is that we have "blind" buyers who still don't think of looking at SaH or Hamleys to get reduced and retired promo sets.

Now they have been 30% off for a month (coming in and out of stock) and the selling window is closed for a year. True they are easy to store but is that a good or bad thing? Catamaron is C2C. The battle of the turds is now between Adventure Time, AT ST Walker and Battle of Atlantis - the holy trinity of subprime lego. Edited February 1, 20196 yr by Val-E

The crapamaran may have a chance, but I doubt it'll reach RRP any time soon. The Dolphin Cruiser was a much better set IMHO and did very well out of the trap, came back down to Earth and is starting to rise again. Could Adventure Time be a dark horse? Probably not as I've never heard of it and never heard it being talked about, a 100% turkey.
February 1, 20196 yr Adventure Time is getting on to be the longest officially available Ideas set, isn´t it? Just checked and it is tied with Ecto 1 on 2 years and 1 month in Europe. Saturn V will beat both of them if it stays beyond July, though. Edited February 1, 20196 yr by Val-E
February 1, 20196 yr Thanks for the Heads Up with the catamaran. At 50% off you cant do much wrong. I wouldnt go all in quantity wise, but a few wont harm. Will be over 100€ for sure Xmas 2020.

Saturn V's long life is justified whereas AT's was just a shortsighted cock-up and still won't shift at 50% off. 2 hours ago, Sozial said: Thanks for the Heads Up with the catamaran. Dont even go there, thought N.Ireland here was going to get special status ( would be part of the UK market and EU Customs Union) after Brexit, basically turning this place into a Hong Kong Singapore type idyll for me and other traders. But the local Hill Billies are busy scuppering that, basically snatching poverty from the jaws of wealth.

February 1, 20196 yr Lowest price is £50 on ebay right now, worst case scenario, those who got them for under £30 will make £10 per unit right now however the price should increase. It's a nice set, just a bit over-produced. It's a little bit different in that it's a Catamaran rather than a boat so it won't be a terrible investment.
February 1, 20196 yr I like the Catamaran as a set and would have picked one up for the kid to build, but not as an investment.

Doubt I'm going to get much interested when the last feedback received starts with 'Terrible packaging'. Reported to eBay as malicious feedback but so far they've done nothing Always send my Lego sales overly well packaged (double boxed) as its a surefire way of discouraging its arrived damaged claims and the customers really appreciate it costs more in materials and time though.

Y'know...I never thought of it that way...I once got an Ebay seller send me the Caterham...and the packaging was a thing of beauty...it actually elevated my perception of a $60 set...anyway, my first thought was "THIS GUY...does not F' around"...I doubt anyone would have the ballz to scam him since anyone THAT detailed is clearly not someone to be F'd with.

Yep, but it doesn't make much difference when they refuse to provide evidence of damage and then leave negative feedback. Don't even understand what the guy's motivation was, he wasn't looking any sort of refund

Don't even understand what the guy's motivation was, he wasn't looking any sort of refund Some of the parcels I have had back from Royal Mail as undelivered have been battered beyond belief, so would not surprise me if they did a number on your customers as well. Other possible reasons he had a bad day and decided it was your fault pretty common customer activity when I worked in Retail stores, or another common more insidious one he was put up to it by your competition or is your competition with a plethora of accounts.Or was maybe looking for a quick money back no return deal at your expense, who can tell. I am sure its only a matter of time before I get hit with the S**tstick too but hopefully later rather than sooner.
February 5, 20196 yr Quick Tesco Disney Castle update, mine has 3 left still at 50% off and they're in the clearance area now so I can't see them going lower as that's the last place stock goes.
