Well that was a waste of time. Turned up for my Click & Collect order of 2 x Ecto-1s, and they only had one for me. Meanwhile the Asda deal's happened, and they've sold out. This swine's destined to accrue minimal value just to spite me, I can tell.

Did asda have ectos?! or was that toys r us? I couldnt find any local to us but im hoping my 2 xwings are there to collect from asda. Thanks for the heads up people!

One Day Flash Sale (UK Only) MF at £149.99. Be Quick.

  • One thing I have noticed is that sets are plateauing at "a" price at n months after retiring. 10197 is around £300, it still has not increased in the 18 months since I sold my last one. 10211

  • Though this version totally blows the original away (and is from around where I live):

Mine's being held until 9pm tomorrow, no mission of getting there until Friday. Think I'll have to give them a ring to find out how their definition of 'held for two days' differs from mine...

Didn't get a chance to make the call due to dodgy mobile reception, back up to £44.99 now and no stock :(

Saw that Asda have the 42042 at £74.97 as they are offering £10 off at checkout.

My question is do they still send out in bags, or are things now boxed?

Not done a click and collect from Asda before, but picking one up later today. Can let you know if it's in a bag or not if you want. Someone will probably have answered your question before then though.

Box. All mine have been very well packed in the past.

In the past if you buy the right amount they would just send your orders in the lego shipping boxes - good for storage but not reshipping in.

This time its lots of individual orders to maximise the £10 discounts so hoping for individual shipping boxes to reuse

Asda have sorted their act out with packaging. They've started using sturdy boxes and would say they're probably one of the best companies to order from, second only to TLG. Tesco's on the other hand... ugh

Thanks..

I haven't touched Asda since a couple of years back I ordered 20 Gandalf Arrives (9406) and they all arrived battered by being thrown into a sack. I think I got through over 80 of them before they finally turned up in a box and swore never again.

On a different note to the above, Heading to Barcelona next month, wondering if there are any decent lego stores in the area? cant see an official one.

PM me with details of what you are lookin for and I´ll try to point you to a few.

Just picked up 2 Poe's X wing from Asda - click and collect, packed perfectly in nice study box! No complaints here!

same here picked up x-wings and death star duels, each in its own stury box.

Boxes are far too big for those sets but are a perfect fit for sets of box size 10225 R2-D2

Asda were the cheapest for Ecto-1 until the Toys R Us deal. Then Asda did the £10 off over £50 deal and got cleaned out.

Interestingly their Ecto-1 page is still findable via Google but now doesn't come up using their own search.

My first useful post, rather than asking for help, have been here for a few months and have had the benefit of the knowledge here.

Came across my first sort of deal and thought i should share. ebay is offering 30% off final value fees until the end of 29th feb for up to 100 listings. It's only valid for private UK sellers who meet the seller performance standard. You'll get an invite when you login to your account if your entitled.

Why does Amazon in UK sell the big Lego sets like Star Wars UCS or Creator sets?

It seems its basically just Lego Shop, Toys 'R' Us and Smyths Toys. I know John Lewis stock some of the larger sets but Toys 'R' Us don't stock Star Wars UCS. It seems really hard to get buy the large sets at a discount in the UK.

More great news for Tumbler investors.....

This is the equivalent of a "let me throw a grenade in the room and walk away and I'll come back later to see the aftermath" post

I think they were commenting on the eBay promotion which would be good for Tumbler hoarders offloading their loot.

I'm new here and one of the aforementioned hoarders having picked up 10 Tumbler sets last week. But for long term investment not a quick flip.

Agreed. I've only been using click & collect from both chains recently, but ASDA seem to generally box items, whereas Tesco tend to just bag them. Having said that, no damage to Tesco items yet, even the ones where some fool taped sets together in the bag - you should have heard the language that cam out of my mouth when I opened the bag! Thankfully it was the kind of miracle tape which will peel off without damage.

Another odd one I've never got to the bottom of is why ASDA packaged my lots of 10 SW Advent calendars with 9 in boxes that would take 10 (i.e. box had a row of 5, then a row of 4), then the other one in a separate small box on its own. Made it tricky to carry both across the car park without dropping the small one. Still, £10 net profit per item might have been almost worth it

For the Duplo fans (and for those who think it's just too good a deal to let pass):

Mytoys.de now has 75% discount on 10608 Duplo Spiderman (€30,- discounted to €7,50). See here. If you'll buy at least €30,- worth of Duplo, there's an extra discount of 20%. Offer only available today.

While you're at it, also at Mytoys.de you can purchase the 42038 Technic Arctic vehicle here, for €26,- (68% off).

Good spot Roy, but I think I can go one better, I've just ordered a few (that's a slight under exaggeration) of this 76046 for €7.99 each. Still waiting on the confirmation email though. It even has a helicopter :thumbsu:
