One Day Flash Sale (UK Only) MF at £149.99. Be Quick.

  • One thing I have noticed is that sets are plateauing at "a" price at n months after retiring. 10197 is around £300, it still has not increased in the 18 months since I sold my last one. 10211

  • Though this version totally blows the original away (and is from around where I live):

I’m 100% I could make a profit on a £130 42056. Sold prices on eBay make this quite obvious.

But it was an easy pass for me, as it will be a relatively small profit after fees etc compared to the size of the thing. I’d be making as much per unit as I did on pirate coasters, which are much easier to ship, take up far less space, and buyers have been less precious about in terms of box condition etc.

I agree with Tabby, 42056 has been coming down and down.. and down.. in price and in the new year when people have cottoned onto the new Porsche coming out I reckon there will be £100-£110 deals on it to be had.

Then, I’ll be buying.

You'll have to sell for £170 to break even on a £130 buy-in. Selling fees, box, bubble-wrap and shipping really eat into profit. There's snowball's chance in Hell of selling for £200 any time soon and this will only generate £18 profit after income tax. Hardly worth it and also a high risk of returns and scams. £300 would be my target, but that won't happen with 42056 as somebody somewhere will always be able to sell for much less. A great looking set, but a big investment turkey IMHO.

Interesting analysis. Thanks for sharing.

I was a bit annoyed at missing out at 130 this morning as I want one for myself so I hope you're correct about it coming down to ~£100.

Personally, I think this has almost no chance at all of going down that low.

Available in branches where EVERYBODY ELSE lives ;-(

ARGOS: Elves Noctura Tower Earth Fox Rescue - 41194 for £19.99 (RRP 54.99)

I can collect 1 locally, but can't be bothered to park up and it is Argos after all. Also not the enormous quantity that would make it worth my while.

Enjoy chasing the wild geese!

Typical ARGOS.....

Cheers TB, one solitary copy in stock round the corner at Sainsburys and was going for some supplies anyway after work so will grab it from the argos counter for a quick crimbo flip.

Should get £45-50 after fees and a little bit of cashback. ;)

Thanks Tabby. I have been able to order 3 from the only place near me that apparently has any. Looks like the QFLLs are already tanking the price on eBay.

EDIT: I tell a lie - one more reserved.

You're welcome. Keep them for at least a year,  >RRP after fees is likely judging by past sets of the same size. It's a shame that Argos quantities are now geography specific otherwise I'd help more people out. A dead cert winner for those that can get them. I'd be interested to know box condition please as I'm struggling to forgive Argos for past offences ?

When I buy from Argos I do so with the expectation that the boxes will not be perfect. It only costs about 5% of my sale price, so it isn't crucial. I'll let you know, but it will probably be tomorrow that I collect them.

Is that Long elms SW? I am collecting that :) Just bought it online !

It's a shame that most other retailers don't appear to stock it otherwise I'd be on the phone clearing them out!

All six Argos stores within 3 miles of the house can provide me with three ? I'll start with the one I drive past on the way home

Lucky man! Fill your boots!

Tips and donations gratefully received ?

If you have a Curve card you can get Curve rewards in Argos (1.5%). If anyone wants a referral you can send me a PM (you get something, I get something)

Argos cashback just tracked for the order of 3. Supposed to be 3%, ended up with 3 pence. Fantastic...

Quidco says that Argos track at 1p, 2p, 3p initially before correcting.

Managed to reserve 3 at my nearest branch, no more than one in stock at any other reasonably reachable branch around me. Saw the HUKD post maybe 15 minutes after it went up.

The Argos eBay listing is letting me order 10 to a variety of stores, none actually convenient to me, but it's giving me the pay button, might be worth taking a look.

You should clear at least £300 on those after EOL. This theme could be gold once it's all gone which is why I'm holding half back.

Alas I don’t believe this would happen, as I posted in another thread earlier -

There was a suggestion on the EBay Argos store you could order multiples to one store to pick up, and the system was allowing you right through to pay. But it is nonsense and won’t work for sure.

It was letting me add 10 for collection up the road within the hour, but there wasn’t ten in stock in the country according to the Argos website. They could have flown them down from Scotland, but I thought that unlikely. Obviously a glitch with their Ebay system.

On Facebook Marketplace, a 10251 Brick Bank, brand new, has just been listed in Coventry for £65. Collection only so I would think it is legit. Any midlanders on here should get on it fast. Bit too far for me to think it's worth going.
