One Day Flash Sale (UK Only) MF at £149.99. Be Quick.

  • One thing I have noticed is that sets are plateauing at "a" price at n months after retiring. 10197 is around £300, it still has not increased in the 18 months since I sold my last one. 10211

  • Though this version totally blows the original away (and is from around where I live):

Certainly a scam. Not worth the effort placing the order, even knowing that you'll get your money back.

Of course. I couldn't believe all those short-sighted people that actually placed orders, at least it was 1 each rather than an arm-sweep. I reported it to eBay, told the seller that his account was hacked and also emailed Jadlam Racing Models as their name was being used. I didn't place an order as anything too good to be true ALWAYS is.

Oops... should've been in fruitcake thread ?

It's not always too good to be true. I once ordered a BNIB 6210 Sail Barge for £100 that I flipped for £275. IME single copies of older sets are often legit.

Jadlam just called me, the dodgy 42083 listing on eBay has just been taken down. I just hope those mugs get their money back. eBay/PayPal say that the buyer is protected, but they don't make it easy. It's the hacked seller account that'll really suffer due to lots of FVFs and PayPal taking their cut when refunding - what a mess.

I have been given a £10 voucher for Jadlam, woo-hoo ?

Drive around and clean them all out, eliminate the competition. This will be a £120 set one day.

They'll be fine, this is Tesco, not Argos or TRU ?

60138 High Speed Chase £12.99 (RRP £24.99) in John Lewis (Reading), I didn't buy any.

Do you know if Smyths still attach that dreadful yellow price sticker as they do instore if the set is bought online? This alone has stopped my buying anything from Smyths unless I'm building it. Thanks.

I bought a lego set once from smyths with a yellow sticker on it and I pealed it off,  just do it slow and methodical and it comes off.

I have in the past, but no method removes them perfectly. When I sell to certain toy shops and emporiums, the boxes have to be beyond mint and I've even got larger sets officially graded.

I just can't understand why boxes are so much more important than the contents. I've never had such a problem with other toys and collectables.

the box 'makes the toy' if you know what I mean.

Absolutely, most fussy UK eBay buyers only want the MISB and will NEVER look at the contents. I suppose you could even sell the box of a premium set with new seals (easily reproduced) containing Bogus Bricks and the chances are it'll never be opened. When I was a serious collector, I'd scan the box, print the main cover and frame it above the built set. I'd then throw the box away. Sorry, boxes don't do it for me, but we have to look after the anal buyers, right? ?

10693 £9 on Amazon, if you want it be quick before some plonker puts it on HDUK.

Thanks, I ordered 2 for Xmas presents. The HUKD riff-raff are slacking today!

Yep cheers, they were cheap enough to get a couple.

As per usual, completely underwhelmed by the Argos 3 for 2, anybody biting there?

Thanks.. Bought two to add to MOC stock. These are always good for hidden supports.

Also got 2 for Christmas presents, pretty good value. The porsche price point on argos isn't to bad with the 3 for 2, works out at 133.33 each. If you missed the last deal on those for 129.99 it could be a good time to pick them up as I see them in stock.

10693 was listed on HUKD nearly 3hrs ago so should've gone by now. I've looked at Argos, but nothing that I fancy building right now. I'll wait to see if JLP price matches to get a decent box.

Interesting. Maybe it's because those types of packs are so often on offer?

Picked up the surfer van in Debenhams earlier for £15 to build. Might be worth a look for people like me who missed out on the Tesco fun.

Boots have a 3-for-2 sale on with £10 in points for every £60 spent. For example the £24.99 lorry/helicopter will cost around £14 depending on how much you fill your "boots" ?

Not a great sale. but OK for a few Xmas presents.
