One Day Flash Sale (UK Only) MF at £149.99. Be Quick.

  • One thing I have noticed is that sets are plateauing at "a" price at n months after retiring. 10197 is around £300, it still has not increased in the 18 months since I sold my last one. 10211

  • Though this version totally blows the original away (and is from around where I live):

I can no longer buy the boxes I want from Staples or Amazon as they are discontinued. The sizes I'm after are:

550x300x100mm (single wall) - eg. for long Elves sets and Friends Pop Star Buses. (Cannot find off the peg anywhere)

500x400x100mm (single wall) - eg. for Volcano Exploration Bases, Fire Stations, Spaceports, Sopwith Camels and the old-box T1 Camper Van. (LiL are £1.53 inc VAT - too much!)

600x500x130mm (double wall) - eg. Modulars, Sea Cows, Xerions, etc.

I'm beginning to run low and I need about 100x of each until I make a very large order of 2,500x with a custom manufacturer (probably ACS Direct) at the end of this year.

I'd like to stick with these dimensions as it still allows for good protection and brings most sets under the all important 2KG limit for Royal Mail and 5KG for Collect Plus.

Why can't LEGO just put every medium set in a 430x330x140mm box so that it can go as a snug small parcel? ;-)

Thanks!

LOL - it's still available to that tells me that those that bought them could be stuck with them. TBH... I had an opinion of the theme even before the discounts.

For those who still have these, George have got a very generous returns policy - 100 days no questions asked with online purchases. I have one left to shift at a modest profit, can't see it being a problem in that timescale to be fair.

It came in handy when I had buyer's remorse just before Xmas when I "accidentally forgot" to pick up 30x large LEGO sets and 30x Hornby Train Sets. I just called them and said that I need to travel at short notice and unable to collect. The order was cancelled and I was refunded the next day. I've ordered since then without a problem and I'm still mates with George ;-)

I do have 15x 60051 High Speed Passenger Trains at £55 that I'll be returning soon as it's been available and heavily discounted for too long.

Hmmm..... I can see them struggling with all those returned Batmobiles!

Even Tabby can buy the wrong thing.. there is hope for all ?

I want them wiped out and couldn't see Richies post so have done the HUKD thing.

I've bought the wrong thing on a lot of occasions and still do, but not as much ;-)

BTW... I've not seen either HUKD post, perhaps mods are checking first?

I got a reply a while ago to say it had already been posted I presumed that was the one above.

HDUK Wouldn't let me post because there was a post already, sorry.

Try HUKD instead ;-)

I added a comment anyway, see if they take the bait.

The Ultimate Buttmobile is now OOS at Asda. Hopefully those that were unfortunate enough to buy them have a chance to get some of their money back ;-)

Worse still, so has Maplin's

They've not done themselves any favours either. They've always been expensive and they seem to have also cut corners by employing less knowledgeable staff. It's the same when a local pub closes, they have to look closer to home for the cause. I know I'm being harsh, but you really have to go the extra mile to stay in business these days.

All I can say is that I'm really pleased that TRU has gone belly up, I only wish that they could shut up shop today, why wait?

Maplins, it is a shame, but I'm not surprised.

Argos next?

More than likely, seeing as Sainsbury's are opening more of them each week inside their supermarkets and they are often duplicating products.

Adventure time no longer B/O at Sah showing now available at full RRP good luck with that one Sah.

Be careful what you wish for.

With each less competitor, Lego may just get a little more expensive.

They have no competition on Block based Toys industry and even though this year will be even worse than 2017 for TLG for multiple reasons.
Kids tend to have more attraction in digital based entertainment than blocks which are fantastic because it's stimulate their brains pushing towards creativity but they are just getting bored by them very quickly. Roblox for example have 40mln active database users and they offer nothing but LEGO's in digital format served on massive multiplayer online dish.

That's why LEGO became a "KODAK" of the toy industry. accounting 2-3 CEO's within year doesn't make it any easier for them. Danfoss guy will be sacked by the end of the 2017, mark my word.

My wife is a teacher at a school in a well off area and every chance they have they'll bring in their Ninjago figures and play out scenes. Roblox is already massive in the U.S but I think they're more of a threat to Minecraft than Lego. I do agree with your caution but I think there will always be a good market out there for Lego and the sets appeal to a wide range of different ages. Friends and Elves will continue to do well as girls are less likely to play with digital devices.

Not seen any reductions at Toys R Us yet, but I can't see stuff flying out the doors at the reported "up to 25% off"

Yes even if they eventually make it to 40 per cent off they will only be Matching Amazon on most sets.

I'm a bit disappointed, was hoping for huge reductions.

That will happen at the receiver´s auction. I guess if they have to cover March´s rent and salaries, they will hold out for as much as they can get and we know that some people will buy anyway because the think they are getting a good deal.

Will be Next week before any decent Lego discount kicks in according to my Local Store Boss, the end of next week to be exact.
