I personally can't be bothered and most of the sets look crap anyway. I wonder if the UCS TIE will disappoint like Red5 did? I'm still not sure how Red 5 can be classed as disappointment ? I was picking these up in Argos 3 for 2 which worked out around £100 each at the time. This set is still selling on eBay today for anywhere between £250-£275, even used sets are making £220 . With Fees, postage and Taxes that's still around a 150% ROI?!?! In my opinion its a beautiful set, and it takes pride on my display shelf. Yes due to the nature of the set many hoped it made have gone £300+ but as we are all aware no set is safe from a remake these days, especially SW. But all the time I'm making 150% ROI I don't feel the need to be negative towards the theme.

Looks like those whom invested in it have already missed the window lol £3 FVF from eBay has knocked sets this passed week, Simpsons House was the same. Give it some time and it will creep up again. Sometimes its not always best to sale when eBay dish out their promos and competition is then high for the next 30 days.

The UCS ship sailed ages ago. Selling £200 will result in a loss for most. Mine is for sale at RRP to you lot plus P&P ;-)

We all know that it was an iconic ship that should've done much better. As well as my TIE, I also suffer buyer's remorse with the Slave I. Even 75192 could struggle once John Lewis, TRU and Smyths stock it.
January 24, 20187 yr I've noticed that the battle packs can do well if you get a nice low buy in and Sainsbury's often knock these out cheaply. Also noticed that 75054 At At is doing well. I picked one up in JL that must have been a return for £39.99. It's complete but the box has taken a beating. Torn between building or selling.

One of the best performers last year - buy-in for EUR 140-160, sitting in storage room around 2 years, selling, most of them already sold for EUR 250-270 - i.e. 70 % profit after 2 years, great in these horrible times. Look at pet shop, tumbler, ToO, etc, or neverending stories like TB, T1, which are still on shelves (and my storage room) without any profit... I wish that all sets have same performance....

You misses a 3-4-2 Tabby, I won't believe it, was you on holiday that week !! ;o) Nevertheless, I wouldn't have much buyers remorse regards those sets, that iconic vehicles and will always be in demand! People join the Lego crowd all the time and look out for retired sets, especially SW fans !! I'm still on the constant look out for a good eBay deal on early sets, but yes the fear of remakes makes me weary. I purchased my Slave 1's at £136, if I can sale for £200 then fine. Yes it may only equate to £40 profit but its a profit for minimal effort, and there is a good chance this set will go higher. We are going off track regards the thread title so I'll finish with the following, In this game anyone that buys at RRP is mad, simple as that. I've said it before, buy at the right price and the majority of sets will make money and a better ROI then a bank !

And talking about going off track, I'm buying used video players for £5-10 at boot sales and Facebook market place and selling them for anything from £30 - £120. Best ROI ever. I just wish I could find more of them.

It could even turn out that the best "UCS" investment turns out to be AoH lol

Early figures looked promising post retirement so I picked up a few when they was discounted at SAH, I tried to get more but no cigar. I actually built one from an eBay purchase, put it on some base plates, built a mini Empire Strikes Back scene and actually ending up liking the set more than initially thought.

In store only, apart from when it was TOOS online and became briefly available a few times. I managed to get one at 30% off, plus 7% cashback and VIP, so it should serve me well. I have another I bought a few months ago for £140 with a ruined box, so I'll probably build that one.
January 24, 20187 yr Lots of excitement on HDUK about Asda bargains. Annoying that we dont have one nearby!

These clearances are never near me either. We have large Tescos and Asdas but lucky to see 2 metres of Lego. But if you want Easter eggs, fresh soup in a carton or Polish food, you're looking at 10+ metres each. Suburbs of large Northern cities seem to get the cream.

Up North and I can't find any Asda that has decent Lego stock, usually same with Sainsburys. Tesco's get stocked up at Xmas but rest of the year its slim pickings.
January 25, 20187 yr Anyone know what time of year Argos 3 for 2 starts because I always seem to catch the end of it when all the good sets are sold out

I'm thinking of selling them with my Louvres and Eiffel Towers as part of a Paris theme. There's already good profits to be had on those 3 as a set.

Louvre + Eiffel Tower + Arc de Triomphe as a combo sounds pretty good. Especially when they're all retired.
