The more we complain about box condition, the more likely it is that retailers will get their acts together. I complain about every dinged box I get. I have to complain because my customers demand perfection!

I'd just like to say that LEGO can also bin liners! My last Caterham 7 arrived in a grey bag, but was in a bubble-bag also and not damaged. I'm hoping that they've just run out of smaller boxes and this is temporary. I thought it was one of my John Lewis ones at first until I saw the LEGO packing slip.

I agree. My only concern is whether Amazon keep track of the % of return rate or requests for refunds. I must be about 33% return/refund rate at the moment (flags raised?). Before Christmas I was well under 10% (valued customer).

One Day Flash Sale (UK Only) MF at £149.99. Be Quick.

  • One thing I have noticed is that sets are plateauing at "a" price at n months after retiring. 10197 is around £300, it still has not increased in the 18 months since I sold my last one. 10211

  • Though this version totally blows the original away (and is from around where I live):

Unfortunately no Asda where I live, or I'd be all over those like a rash.

Even if there was, only a small fraction of Asda branches stock larger sets. All the branches in Berkshire that I know of only stock <£50 RRP sets and there's rarely any offers.

Keep an eye on George online as you may see them being returned to HQ and offloaded cheap to get rid.

I remember when Tesco had them for £30 and I spent a week driving all over the South to clean them out. Yes, it was me!

I don't think anybody keeps track which is why the problem is getting worse. LEGO's been dire for me the last couple of months. If I can get a 600x400x100mm box for 60p, I'm sure that high-volume retailers can get them for 1/4 of that or less. Internal packaging is free as there's millions of unread newpapers and magazines going to incinerators and landfill.

The other problem is that boxes are often damaged before the P&P stage (eg. SaH) which tells me that a lot of people just don't care anymore.

Please let's all keep complaining as much as we can. Remember to place a poor review on Trustpilot too for poor packaging. I use this as retailers can't approve, amend or remove these reviews.

Sale approaching, will confirm on start, nothing extraordinary.

According to shop assistant anytime soon, UK Sale, a few sets worth getting if info is correct, normally would wait  for sale to start before posting but prices are going in right direction.

Another Amazon retired set arrived today (41179 Elves Queen's Dragon Rescue) and another damaged box. I got some money back, but a pristine box would have been worth more than my £13 part-refund. This is becoming a common issue with Amazon's old stock.

Just ordered another 41179 from Amazon (direct) at full RRP. If this one is also battered, then I'm not going to touch any more retired sets from Amazon. Delivery expected 19th to 23rd January.

Won't it possibly be the same returned item (assuming you returned the last) ?

I kept the last one and accepted a 20% part-refund. It was the Fortress that I returned. But you're possible right, some sets are passed from pillar to post judging by their condition.

I did see a minecraft fortress earlier at 30% off on Amazon but after seeing yours decided against it

I'd happily take a chance but I've returned or received a part-refund so many items recently I might be flagged.  I'd say go for it if you haven't returned much.

On a positive note, I received The Wither today from Amazon in perfect condition (even with seal 50S6). I guess it's really down to luck.

How much has the Wither been when it's been available on Amazon?

So far this week i've manage to score some 41179 (coming friday), Ice Spikes (both great condition), Jungle Temples (one ok, one smashed) and a Witch Hunt (coming next week).

But so far i've haven't come across any Withers.

With all this interest in Minecraft I'm surprised that 21102 The Forest is still struggling to sell for even 2/3 of RRP. Is this the only CUSSOO set that has worse performance than the Exo Suit?

Nice to see a local member @steven_cambridge Given you a Like for being local and tolerating not having a decent toy store!

I'm also Cambridgeshire. Online shopping is my only option really!

Wither is £29, but sells out almost straight away. I am tempted to cancel the 41179. Looks like about £10 to £20 profit. Not sure how much it will rise as the year progresses.

I don't get MInecraft either. Some sets doing very well, but others stuck at RRP. I think it is Youtubers re-enacting their online worlds or hardcore collectors. Sales on ebay don't appear to be great but prices remain high.

The sets are not over-produced. Iron Golem 21123 is not retired but is continually selling out on Amazon at RRP.  Amazon drip feeding their stock levels perhaps, who knows.

Elves are Xmas keepers. Store and forget till November.

You have to be more patient.DS didn´t get to where it is overnight. Until stock dries up, it will be at around RRP as Xmas has passed.

Actually, sets that shoot up soon after retirement are more cause for concern as they just have higher to fall from....

Hi welcome, Belfast guy here, best deals are Tesco instore at the moment, but get yourself a self scanner as the price on the shelf is not always correct.

Look out for 60141 City Police Station,75187 Star Wars BB-8 and older Ninjago sets.

Also Belfast, hard to find the biggest sets though. I've seen Police Stations once in Knocknagoney, BB-8's the only big set in Newtownbreda but shelves were virtually empty of any sets at the weekend.
