Just watch Asda/Tesco websites like a hawk as pricing errors can happen when they are struggling to cope with Xmas. Also it's worth popping in to local stores if you're passing them as that's where the real bargains often are. Even if it's "only" 10% off already lowish prices - every little helps ;-)

Not been many pricing errors at all this season from the retailers. The only one that spring to mind was Juniors 10736 at £8 (Asda) or the Eiffel Tower at £11 buy in. Maybe they were deliberate reductions.

Amazon also have quick reductions, but if they're around 50% to 60% they are gone within minutes. Sometimes they don't even find themselves on Max Profit / Brickset before they're gone.

I'm struggling to think of any single set that has been 70%+ off.

One Day Flash Sale (UK Only) MF at £149.99. Be Quick.

  • One thing I have noticed is that sets are plateauing at "a" price at n months after retiring. 10197 is around £300, it still has not increased in the 18 months since I sold my last one. 10211

  • Though this version totally blows the original away (and is from around where I live):

So, looking at German SAH the deal for tomorrow is 25% off Porsche 911 GT3

Same in UK, just got the email. Of course, it's much cheaper elsewhere. Not to mention that this could be the most hoarded set of all time. I got one at -50% to build, no more.

I bought 2 at launch built one and dumped the other when availability was everywhere and the price started dropping.  Rather cash out at a loss and reinvest rather than have it sat there gathering dust for 2+ years.

Take off the pyjamas/bedding and Asda are only selling 61 Lego lines. Seems strange  with 11 days still before Christmas.

I notice a lot of the Star Wars 3-for-2 crap sets are still available, says a lot of the theme, doesn't it?

Did the same last year will sell off all the old stuff and poor sellers and shortly replace it with the new.Just a pity other retailers are not as generous in the discount stakes.

All the same since Tesco have been so tight this year I have found a lot of new sources,so for me the glass is half full.

Tesco have dropped some of their prices a bit more on some sets and the 500/£30, 1000/£60 and 2000/£120 clubcard offer is still on along with 5% from "the usual" taboo website. The sets I bought work out at:

60051 High Speed Train at £57.50 each

70618 Destinys Bounty at £77.20 each

75881 Ford GT and Ford GT40 at £17.67 each

21306 Yellow Submarine at £40.83 each (I don't care as I'm buying a ton ready for imminent EOL)

10704 Creative Box for £16.67 each

I "engineered" each order to be as close to £120 as possible (for 2000 points) so the above is a little more than what I paid as my math was approximate.

A good deal so I bought a nominal amount of each ;-)

I was hoping to get up to Leicester Square today to pick up a couple of 10249 Toy Shops as they are OOS everywhere else with double points. Don’t fancy queuing and fighting the crowds over the weekend. Does anybody know if they are on the shelf there and also whether they still have stock of nutcrackers, 24 in 1s, VIP sets, etc and are still stacking them?

I was thinking of heading there tomorrow, let me know how you get on.

Considering it has been available at big discounts in the run up to Christmas and is widely available, even now available cheaper elsewhere, I'm amazed to see that yesterdays offer has put it OOS at SaH

What are Amazon like for multiple orders of limit 2 sets? Is it a no-no to even bother? Vacation Getaways is just over £30 quid each with the free Catcycle set for over a certain spend. Not going to get loads, but wondered whether it was worth grabbing a couple more?

Basically £62 for 2 VG's and the free Catcycle whatever it is delivered.

I like the price of this especially with the freebie. Do you know if it is retiring?

I would have been tempted with the Vacation Getaways at £31 a few months ago, but it looks like it is now well hoarded. Also another camping theme offering (60182) will be enough resistance for me.

My thoughts are pretty much the same on this one. There are 3 new camper sets due out one each in Creator, City and Friends themes.

I feel what you're saying Chris. However, I think it's one of the better sets this year and I havn't even grabbed ANY yet as I thought it would be around for a while. Want to get a few just for the ride :)

I think it's a great set but sadly it doesn't mean it will be a great performer. I've got a couple for the ride.

I am more tempted by Architecture Venice. Gone everywhere (even SAH) but still available at Amazon under RRP.

This set and Berlin are heating up nicely.

Not sure if I have much faith in any of the cityscapes myself to be honest. If I lived in London I'd probably buy a shedload of Buckingham Palaces though and knock 'em out at double the RRP after retirement somewhere nearby (until the rozzers shut me down). Think you could do similar with the Beatles set in Liverpool too in tour destinations! Shock Horror! ;)

Ebay sold prices are giving me faith!

I will investigate. Can't argue with evidence :)

Also, I think the discounts never topped 30%, and were short-lived. Every other retailer has been cleaned out and these cityscapes are rarely mentioned on here. Isn't this a solid base for a good performer?

Yeah, still not convinced about them. Plus, Vacation Getaways is double the size of the example given above. Not looked at the other ones. Not saying it will be a 'winner', just that I would rather have several than none at all. Not seen a better motorhome type thing yet. But yes, an abundance of other options is not a good thing.
