I'm very much small scale. Best bargains have been picking up the £9-£15 sets for under a fiver, saves a lot of time and money going out to look for presents for the wave of birthday parties that come with having primary school children. Plus you look amazing compared to what other people give!

One Day Flash Sale (UK Only) MF at £149.99. Be Quick.

  • One thing I have noticed is that sets are plateauing at "a" price at n months after retiring. 10197 is around £300, it still has not increased in the 18 months since I sold my last one. 10211

  • Though this version totally blows the original away (and is from around where I live):

It sounds like richie wants Lego reselling to be a reliable business stream while for the rest of us (Tabby excluded) it is simply profitable fun.

I was looking for another revenue stream, the reselling is going really well and I think it'll bring in around £500 a month extra for us. The problem is we're soon going to be hitting a point whereby we will have maximised our time and can't grow it anymore. Adding Lego was going to be another way of bringing in some longer term investments but I'm too impatient and after reading some of the comments on the forum it seems too risky to invest a lot of money into and I don't want to sit around looking at £500 of Lego for 2 years just worrying that it won't perform.

I will still look out for bargains in the Christmas sales though.

Oh and  I've just sold the Catamaran and Stephanie's' house for £10 profit each on Facebook. :D

Well done, Facebook is good for fee-free sales. However, I'd have waited until those 2 sets retired and got £30 profit each. If you take advantage of some of the dirt-cheap offers, there's no problem buying a lot and shifting them all quickly for a smaller profit - I do it all the time, but I don't compete with other members on here.

And there's the problem, we don't know when that will happen and with sales starting in the new year it'll be at least a couple of months until those sets will rise in value again.

If I were you, just sit back and see what you would've got for those sets a few months down the line. If I buy something cheap enough, I also flip some straight away locally for cash and then keep the remainder to sell later on when they "mature". Flipping is fine as it releases funds for other bargains that come along. The danger is sets like STAR WARS, CITY and FRIENDS where some can be rehashed slightly affecting the value of the older sets. You also need to find the optimum selling "window" and this comes with experience.

I've made a spreadsheet of those and I've kept the 2 xYellow Subs too :)

Still undecided about Kwik-e mart though.

I like quick flipping and I have more confidence in it. I could still do that this side of Christmas I think and make small margins but it would teach me more about the buying process and help me learn the sets more.

I think mentally I also struggle with sitting around nice Lego sets all day and not opening them.

May be more for personal build than investment but.....

Thank you! I wanted one of these, more for completeness than anything but I have always liked the look of the original tie fighter. Let’s not forget they also make that fantastic ‘swooshing’ noise as they travel through the vacuum of space...!

This is a fantastic model and a surprisingly good build, one of my favourite models for sure. I picked it up when it's was 20% off at Lego plus a freebie.

I was wondering if someone could offer some advice on the turds I picked up in the sales last year. They have barely risen in price and I'm wondering whether it's worth shifting them ASAP for a small profit or whether it's worth holding:

75150 (Tie v A-Wing)

75140 (Resistance Troop Transporter)

75096 (Sith Infiltrator)

The Battle Droid set (75086) was about my only good purchase in that sale. They have easily reached 2.5* RRP.

I've got those 3 sat on my shelf too and have had the same dilemma. I'm going to hold them at the moment as I'd probably take a hit with so many out there.

If there's no improvement post Christmas I'll probably part them out. The biggest problem is these sets are still sat in stock in some places.

Speaking of which I picked up 2 of the 75086 sets at tru only a week or two ago and flipped them quickly for a good £30 profit each.

My winner from those box types is the Hailfire droid. Bought for £10 selling for £40. Flew well under the radar.

I may be the wrong person to ask as I've been burned on Star Wars sets, but I would sell asap to recover what you can as I don't think they're properly retired yet as some are still available in shops. Or... you can try holding a while longer if you're not desperate for space as Fenix_2k1 states. To be honest, I'm unsure of their desirability compared to the X-Wings, MF, Star Destroyer, etc. I may get shot down for this, but the Star Wars theme is way too saturated to do well I think. However, I do LOVE the Star Wars universe and I'm a huge fan.

I have the same turds. I'm waiting. I remain convinced that 75150 will eventually come good. Lots are selling, and the price in the US is more encouraging. The issue is that they were so vastly overproduced that it's just going to take a while. Part of the reason the prices are so low is because people are giving up and trying to get rid of them.

What's your opinion of the 75105 MF now that it's retiring soon with a strong possibility of a TLJ resurrection?

Sell now at half RRP, say £70 while the "window" is open? Of course, this is directed at the £30 Tesco buyers ;-)

Online it is. But if they have left overs in store they’ll keep handing them out until they run out.

Destiny's Bounty?

If any UK peeps are sat on 31032 Creator Red Creatures sets I've just sold the last of my stock at £35 and lowest price on eBay is now £39.50 + p&p.

For a set that was available for £7 It's a deal and a half and they are moving in run up to xmas.

What happened with them? I really don’t understand that sets popularity?

I had one and only thing I could think of was the Welsh dragon?
