Was going to post this in the new UK retailers thread but read through and got redirected to the market discussion... but probably should have just out it in here! Not sure if it's a deal as such but Toys R Us have a Ninjago build event tomorrow morning. Think it's nationwide (excluding some smaller stores) . Apparently it's a Ninjago minibuild of the ice tank (?)... taking my godchildren in the morning as need to pick up an order anyway... thought it was worth a mention if anyone was out and about! Not gonna make you rich or be in limited supply but a good stocking filler for little (or big ones I guess!). Have been to these before with the Poes Xwing and Batmans little flying car build events and they weren't precious about age restrictions... will be odd actually going with children this time! Feel free to move if this is the wrong place to post it.

TRU have a 50% off sale on ALL Nexo Knights sets.

I know it will be of zero interest to investors but maybe if your child likes them they're a cheap buy. Does this indicate the end of Nexo? I've never seen TRU discount a whole theme by so much.

Yes it does. How can Lego maintain a theme that no shops are stocking anymore? Only the Castle will still be available from this year´s sets and no one is stocking it.

SOme of these sets wil be winners down the line, but you are going to have to buy a lot of turds to find them or be very very fortunate in your choices.

They 1/2 priced everything with the Escort Girls 41230 - 41239 a couple months back.

Highlights that TLG have struggled to find a second format for girls and that the own-brand themes for boys outsider CITY are also tough nuts to crack.

I did wonder about that as there was one 4th Nov last year.  

But people are going to need to get used to 30/35% discounts being the standard again.  Outside price errors and major theme clearance.

I know, I know.  But still some of my best wins were only 30% before the 2016 sell offs.  Republic Gunships, Ghost, Temple of light etc… and all of my R2’s were Argos 3/2’s.

Due to the shocking condition of Argos boxes and packaging, I suggest looking for sets that are worth parting out. I'll log on to see what's on offer, but I doubt I'll buy anything unless it's Xmas presents.

Not all of us have suffered the same experience.

I don't think Argos have had time to restock any of my local branches with my targets.

If I ever saw 21312 WoN on 3-for-2 I will go all in - it's a simple as that!

 

I've had a look at Argos' website and below is what I think are the best buys:

 

10571 - Duplo Pink Box: RRP £24.99 (£11.33 on 3-for-2) - I do VERY well out of Duplo near Xmas as new fans are born every year!

75099 - Rey's Speeder: RRP £19.99 (£7.33 on 3-for-2) - I hate non-OT Star Wars and not remotely interested.

42041 - Telehandler: RRP £24.99 (£13.33 on 3-for-2) - Seems to be a lot of set for the money, heavier than the Go Kart.

21027 - Berlin: RRP £24.99 (£11.66 on 3-for-2) - Already on SaH backorder.

41122 - Friends Tree House Box: RRP £59.99 (£18.66 on 3-for-2) - I've sold mine for £40+ all day long!

 

Of course, the best deals will likely be local to somebody 200 miles from you, aren't they always?

I already have some 75099s for about the same buy-in as that, so will probably get a few more IF they are included in the 3 for 2. I suspect that they won't be. Those 41122s look interesting.

I bought 66x 41122 last year for a similar price and cleaned up as soon as they went EOL ;-)

I've no idea if I'm buying yet as box condition from Argos is a MAJOR concern. I think it'll only be a few Xmas presents as all the best sets will be local C&C only.

Well I've just checked, and both 41122 and 75099 (21027 also) are OOS for home delivery, and OOS pretty much anywhere I could even feasibly get to. At least I don't have to keep checking after midnight to see if the sale is live. 

Basically, it's as you were, there is nothing of interest.

Those are all safe picks at those prices as they are retired or retiring soon. Telehandler is 42061, though.

Sorry, my typo. I think 42061 is a nice set and good value at RRP. I’ll probably get a couple as long as it’s not C&C in Timbuktu!
