This past Weekend I started building the Caterham Seven which I had bought with a nice promo from S@H last year. And I have to say, this is one fun build which also looks really good.  Definitely recommended!

At least the current batch of Ecto1 is now OOS in the UK. I left them alone as I have enough and my buy-in was similar anyway. Hmmm... will these start to skyrocket by lunch time or will we have to wait until this evening? Of course, we'll need to wait a year or so for the QFLLs to clear their warehouses and hangars first. My sell point is £75, not a penny less!

If you can hold off to January 2018 £75 will be a very low sell price,I think these will skyrocket.

Dear QFLL's please sell your Ecto 1's now for £5 profit so that the only people left are those charging £100.

Why? Great looking popular sets don't skyrocket if there are huge numbers of them available from resellers. The Tumbler still hasn't skyrocketed a year on and it was 4 times more expensive to stockpile per set at RRP.

 

Great sets aren't exempt to the laws of supply and demand just because they are great sets.

What if Ecto is 8 times more popular, though? It´s way easier to ship a 50 euro set than a 200 euro one, especially if the latter is WC Comics.

Same here which is why I have more of these than any other set. I'm only admitting this now. I could hog the market at £45 for a year but, I want to clear >£50 profit after expenses. Here we go... 2x RRP just around the corner.

Since Ecto1 was VERY available and always discounted, hopes must now be high for T1 when that goes, if it goes!

It's way easier to ship, but way easier to buy also. I have a few but don't expect any skyrocketing.

£5 profit is too much for the QFLL's, £1 profit is their magic number.

Don't get me wrong,I believe it will increase in price. The skyrocket's the limit is blithely ignoring the fact that this might be one of the most stockpiled sets yet.

I will be delighted if this thing develops otherwise.

One thing I have noticed is that sets are plateauing at "a" price at n months after retiring.

10197 is around £300, it still has not increased in the 18 months since I sold my last one.

10211 is knocking on the door of £300, and has been for the past year. I just sold one for £285.

21110 Research Centre refuses to go above £35. Which is still not bad for RRP of £17 but I was hoping for £50+

21301 Birds shot up to £80+ Christmas 2015 but has since fallen back to around £70 and again is not rising.

Currently the Scooby Doo sets have all shot up 50% due to their unexpected retirement before Christmas but now are falling back to approx 30% above RRP.

Getting to Ecto1 I expect an increase - for a set that has always traded at 80%-90% of RRP on eBay - but no more than to £60ish. Initially at least. Let's see how right I am (I want to be wrong  )

I agree, it's all in the timing not the holding. The 10228 Haunted House also peaked and is now well under £300 (Sold all mine at £330). The 10221 SSD has also dropped nearly £200 from its peak! As for the 10179 MF, it'll fall by thousands once it's shortly releleased.

No, first, it won't be rereleased like DS, and second Red 5 has not destroyed the value of X-Wing, although both sets are really similar.
