LEGO 60097 City Town Square Amazon UK £65.64 (limit 2)

Tesco Direct just called me to apologise for cancelling my 3rd & 4th orders of 99x 75111 Darth Vader. I was told that Customer Relations allowed the first 2 orders through but, have concerns about the volumes I have been ordering. They now suggest a limit of 20 per set per account per calendar month. However, they do allow mass purchases when a set is being phased out and I can call them back when that happens.

60095 Deep Sea Exploration Vessel at Tesco is now £36.98 and I was allowed to order the last 20 over the phone even though the website limit was only 3.

I only bought these as I've already been offered £500 for 10 if I can get them so that's a nice quick flip!

One Day Flash Sale (UK Only) MF at £149.99. Be Quick.

  • One thing I have noticed is that sets are plateauing at "a" price at n months after retiring. 10197 is around £300, it still has not increased in the 18 months since I sold my last one. 10211

  • Though this version totally blows the original away (and is from around where I live):

Good to know that Vader seems to be around for another year then. No need to stock up now.

Some good deals. Have a look - I'll leave the selection to you!

Only today & 20/12

If you're a new member (new E-mail) you can add 10E coupon discount

Thank you. Good deals, but most of the stuff is either out of stock or has a limit < 3 unfortunately.

Ended up getting three Ecto's. Comes to 33.10€ a piece with (9.8€, expensive!) shipping and the -10€ discount applied.

Parisian Restaurant, they only had 1 left or it would have been 100€ a piece.

Fire Engine and Technic Porsche are limit 2 unfortunately.

Other good deals might be: Wall-E at 36€, Droid Troop Carrier at 33€ and Sith Infiltrator at 66€ (excl shipping).

Sandcrawler would have been a steal too.

Unfortunately TRU FR doesn't ship to NL. Similarly TRU DE doesn't ship to NL either. And TRU NL doesn't run a 3for2 sale... sigh

I keep thinking it sucks we don't have TRU and Amazon over here in Belgium, but it works out pretty well because we get to order from pretty much any of the European websites.

Must suck for the French too, because generally TRU FR has extremely high prices and rarely offers any good discounts.

Does TRU Germany do a 3 4 2?

As far as I can see, TRU Germany does not so. Does TRU France deliver to Germany?

If any of you are after any 75111 Darth Vaders at £10.34 each, the 198 that I ordered from Tesco should be returned to stock soon. I've been thinking a lot over the last day or so and... I really do want out of the LEGO investment "game" for good. I called Tesco this morning to cancel all oustanding orders and they were actually quite pleased as they can now fulfill those requests for stock alerts. I've had to let down the guy that wanted to buy a load of sets that I was flipping but, he kept dropping his price every time we spoke so I told him to shove his cash up his arse in the end! Those who go back on an agreed deal with a lowball offer can take their business elsewhere!

Sometimes temptation of buying at >60% off is overwhelming but, I MUST REMAIN STRONG !!!

As of now, I've still not actually bought anything since I decided to bail out.

Apart from 'presents' etc ;)

This is business, so do what you want mate, really. It would be nice if you actually left some things for us who actually want to buy a few things and hold them for a while to see if they appreciate occasionally though, instead of buying the lot and then changing your mind or moving the lot onto another re-seller for wholesale prices. Like I said, it would be 'nice' to do that, and you don't have to feel any need to do that. I fully appreciate that. Fair play for the heads up on the possible re-stock though :)

Edit - That's if they do actually come back in stock at the previous low price ;)

Tesco now has the 1000 clubcard points deal on lego. But prices gone up, so probably not a great deal in comparison with the 1/3rd off we just had.

Correct... apart from presents which have already been wrapped and posted.

I believe that what I order is a drop in the ocean compared to the vast inventory that some of these retailers hold. Tesco currently have 479 superstores in the UK which tells me that they could have at least another 4790x 75111 Darth Vaders currently on the shelves assuming each branch had 10 (The Meadows had 33 on the shelf!) not to mention multiples of this at distribution centres to back-fill superstores and cater for online purchases. Remember... we all had this opportunity to buy at this price.

If somebody else wants to buy say, 500 sets and flip them for an instant £2,500 profit within days then... good luck to them - that's good business in my opinion. Shifting 500 raw sets is a hell of a lot less work than listing/packing/posting 50.

Since the last LEGO promotion has ended, there's bound to be another during the January sales.

If only we knew what the wholesale prices were... 75% off ?

Fair enough, but you do realize you made me drive all the way 5 minutes down the road to my local Extra to buy a few more DV don't you ;)   It's not easy to park down there I'll have you know. By the way, as I said in another thread last night, I've got a feeling that this may be more than just a few really good sales by Tesco. I wouldn't be surprised if they're getting rid as part of a scaling down of their Lego sales due to pressure on their buy in prices. All speculation on my part of course, I have nothing to back that up. Great prices lately though.

As a matter of interest, how many DV were on the shelf before you arm-swept? Since I've seen a possible "Turbo-Flipping" set (60151 CITY Dragster Transporter) at all my local branches for £16.67 (when 1/3 off), this could do well if sold immediately as it's not on LEGO's website yet and recent sales have been for 2x. However, it's risky buying a lot as it could be everywhere and discounted within a few weeks. Since Tesco seem to have several 2017 CITY & Friends sets on the shelves already, the current "cull" may be to simply make space for the new range of sets.

Great prices, I can't agree more - so good that I nearly got dragged under again! ;-)

They had a few on the shelf in the aisle but also had one of those OFD (on floor display) upright cardboard shipper units which had a load in, as well as other small Star Wars sets. I only grabbed several as I'm pretty small time (and had several already) and don't really go in TOO big on any set as my budget doesn't stretch that far and I refuse to get anywhere near getting into debt to do this. I'll only ever 'invest' what I can afford to. Plus, I only have a certain amount of space which would stop me from buying a load more stuff even if I wanted to. I do have a bit more room in storage but it needs to stay clear in-case any ridiculously good offers suddenly spring up. I'll keep my eye on the new sets and see what's going on ;)

P.S - I was looking at the prices for the recently retired train station on Ebay last night and it's looking good. Could be bought for good prices recently also. However, I have zero of them but I was so close to buying on many occasions. My instinct told me to buy but I didn't go for it many times. Lesson learned to trust my instinct sometimes!

This should all be in the ethics thread but FWIW tabby´s strategy is very smart. Blocking other people from getting stuff at cheap prices without actually spending anything himself sounds like a good move.

Didn´t I post that the warehouse workers would be sighing about doing all that packing work for nothing?

They seem to be desperate. Was it ever this early?

Maybe the footprint of resellers pulling out, like myself, is bigger than most of us thought?

Great news. Thank you TLG!

With FNAC, Tesco, Amazon and Toys R'US offering 40% and more discounts, I finally have found an opportunity to buy at 10% discount!

Helicarriers!!!!! HERE I COOOOOOOOMMMMEEEEEE!!!!!

It wasn't intentional, it was the "drunken greedy demon" inside my head that I've now managed to reason with ;-)

If any of you need to speak to a human being at Tesco rather than be bored to tears listening to an auto-attendant, call 0330 123 4050 and press 221 as soon as the robot woman starts talking. I've done it twice today and it's been answered immediately. If you get "somebody nice" they are willing to let you buy over the limit (20+) if there's a particular set that you like. I've not bought anything new, it was just to confirm cancellation of the 75111 DV orders ;-)

FRUITCAKE ALERT!!! Just as well I called as I forgot about the 99x 60092 Deep Sea Subs and 99x 60074 CITY Bulldozers have been waiting 2 weeks for me to pick up Bought for £11 so I'll just flip the lot for £18 asap. This order was pre-bailout but, I'll take and flip anyway.

I know the BP police will be on my case if I did buy anything new!

Tabby, out of interest as I have no plans to sell in such numbers... how/where did/do you flip such large volumes?!

I've built up a network of contacts over the years. I've been trading on eBay since 1999 and sold everything from hosepipes to bicycle parts to ladies panties/bras to chisels to trekking poles to... LEGO. A lot of the people I deal with directly are either toy shop owners or they just pass the sets on to make a few quid themselves even on eBay. If you sell a lot of stuff on eBay, it's only a matter of time before somebody asks, "Hello mate, how many of these have you got and what's your best preice for the lot?"
