John Lewis & George are my favourites as I've often got factory boxes. Amazon did send me a BWE once with no box or even a bin-liner, just a label slapped on it. Of course, I refused to sign when it arrived!

I noticed that Amazon use 500x400x100mm boxes so I called them up. There's a warehouse in Theale and they simply gave me a bundle of slightly used ones which were fine once I peeled the labels and Prime tape off. They were perfect for my Sopwith Camels, Winter Village Markets and LOTR ships. More importantly, it brings parcel weight just under the 2KG mark for much cheaper postage. As I said before, the right box saves money as well as time and reputation.

Packaging is another thread, people. We want more deals!

If I was going to buy from Tesco, I'd order 99x 60097 City Squares as it's an easy £40 profit next year once the QFLLs are done. Yes, this will fit a G30 box perfectly! ;-)

I'd avoid the Porsche, Arocs and Xerion as there's simply too many about and too long to wait.

Yeah, but CS worked out cheaper in the 3 4 2, right? I´d wait for another year on that one, unless it is a surprise 2016 retirement.

I can't remember but what if the prices do rise by 5% on 01JAN as rumoured? I must admit, another 1/3 off Doctor Who would've rattled me a bit.

The Entertainer ( https://www.thetoyshop.com ) is doing £15 of for £50 order. Is it worth picking up 21306 Beatles sub now for effectively £35-£40? I'd buy a cheap for just over £5 to reach the free delivery threshold making the order just over £40.

Or should I wait for the 21306 to go cheaper on a deal over time?

If it's anything like the other IDEAS sets, you can perhaps expect approx. 50% off later down the line. Eg. £33 at Tesco AND 3-for-2? ;-)

Amazon UK are price matching the Claas tractor but it seems the have blocked shipments abroad. Guess they don´t like losing money.

What about your hunch that Tesco, like yourself, are exiting Lego sales? Personally, I think there's some truth to that and these deals will not be repeated next year.

Yes, I think they could be getting out of the reselling game too. I've noticed that they've not replenished much stock since the 3-for-2 sales started and no company in their right mind would sell at a loss during this time of year unless they were bailing out. Then again they do have some of the new Moana sets but, this could be that they're tied into the wholesale agreement and have no choice. I'm also surprised that Asda/George haven't had any good sales recently. All we know is that it's a rollercoaster ride for all involved right now.

Don't think that's what's happening here. Tesco are messing with Argos, trying to interfere with their 3 for 2 sales now that Argos are owned by Sainsburys.

Maybe... Does that mean that Sainsburys will now cover boxes with stickers and drop-kick them into the delivery van? If Tesco aren't bailing then they must have enormous economies-of-scale across their LEGO range to at least break even. It's not as if it's a loss-leader where we also buy non-LEGO products at the same time. I'm sure somebody there knows what they are doing. At least John Lewis & Amazon respond to lower prices even if George doesn't.

Not the right thread, but Argos recently sent me a few orders in boxes rather than bags. Only a few of the 30 or so orders I've done recently, and the boxes were of the lowest possible quality and badly dented by time they arrived, but seems like they might be experimenting. Hopefully they'll go same direction as Asda, who also used to use those awful bags but now seem to pack amazingly well.

BTW Tesco are still selling dozens of already-retired lego sets in this sale.

The really bad news is that 21304 Doctor Who is going up by £2.49 meaning that it's NOT retiring! Of course, The Guardian is full of as much diarrhoea as the Daily Mail. It's suicide if LEGO put up prices again.

Doubt it as 1/3 off , 342 was across all toys at the current selling price.  They just didnt move the prices to rrp before the offer.

I think we will get more 3-4-2 & 1/3 off but it might be at rrp instead of reduced price.

Spockett probably hit it on the nail as they messing with Argos because instore almost every price label says they are cheaper than Argos & they checking Argos prices every 7 days. 

Does anyone know of any deals on the new star wars sets.  Seems a bit crazy to ask but on Shpock UK someone is advertising Yoda Jedi Fighter and new Landspeeder for sale at rrp prices. Doesn't make much sense unless they've found a discount already.

Plenty of discounts here already. -15% on Star Wars at various local retailers. Or maybe just someone who got it as a gift and doesn't want it.

Double VIP at EU SAH starting tomorrow till 26th Dec. Guess sales are down after all.
