The traffic and crowds in Reading today are the worst I've ever seen in November. The Entertainer, Hawkins Bazaar & John Lewis were heaving so I can only imagine how manic Smyths & TRU were. From what I saw, it's the start of probably the busiest Xmas shopping period ever. I don't think retailers need to offer any more discounts.

One Day Flash Sale (UK Only) MF at £149.99. Be Quick.

  • One thing I have noticed is that sets are plateauing at "a" price at n months after retiring. 10197 is around £300, it still has not increased in the 18 months since I sold my last one. 10211

  • Though this version totally blows the original away (and is from around where I live):

TRU was packed today. People waiting for spaces in the car park. The Christmas rush has started. Wonder how many parents were looking for hatchimals.

Is there any information about a possible 3-for-2 event at Tesco/George at the end of the month?

How about John Lewis? Is there any chance that JL will offer a sale or general discount on LEGO before Christmas? What are past years experiences with JL around this time of the year?

None.  Recently price match prior to Christmas only.  And if it’s a particularly good price match it’ll OOS real quick or just plain disappear from the site.   They’re OOS on many sets now anyway.  So don't expect much.  The only thing i expect UK side now is another smyths offering of some sort.

In that case I guess the GBHQ at John Lewis at €287 + €9 for shipping is the best offer I could get it for, compared to €399,99 from LEGO Shop at Home or €352,43 at Amazon Italy which doesn't include shipping yet. :)  I doubt it would get any cheaper than this total of €296 including shipping. I could probably even QF it here for around €340 - €350. :P

General comment but Re TRU voucher - from what i just experienced your bill has only has to come to £100+ before any discounts in order to get it.
I got 2 sets for 60 each (shelf price) so with the buy one get one half off the total was only 90. The cashier got prompted and I got the discount card.

I didn't realise it worked on the "before promotion" price until actually at the tills.

Did you get a physical gift card? As same thing happened to me, I didn't get a physical gift card but there is a code written at bottom of my receipt, will go back to TRU and ask next week to confirm

I got a physical card.  Looking at my recipt and card now the codes are the same (and must be generic because its been pre-printed on).  I think you should have got a physical card.

Good shout, I added things to get my order past £100 after promo today. I'll try it without next time, cheers.

I just came on to let others know but looks like everyone already knows.

Bought 2 £50 things and got given the gift card.  Paid £75. Number on the receipt will match the physical gift card you receive.  These are not generic numbers.

Other thing was dont get the free poly bag ninjago when buying Destiny Bounty as it messes up the total.

Asda has 40125 santa visit for £6 instore, had lots, they sell for about £12-14 shipped on ebay, didn't buy any as not interested in seasonal sets and can't be bothered all the hassle for a few quid

They were £4 each in my local Sainsbury's and I still passed! I've bought dirt cheap seasonal sets in the past and they are a big hassle to offload.

That´s 11 GBP over my target buy-in for a set that has had more remakes than a city firestation.

This one should do fine, yes jedi interceptor have been released before but they were Anakin’s (9494 & 75038) not Obi-Wan's. This is a good small set with a low price set (RRP 19.99) and is a good representation of the vehicle. Won't perform amazing but should steadily increase.

I think most people want to avoid this set due to the performance of 10215 Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter. The reason the UCS wasn't a great seller was that it was a

-very small piece count, think 2nd smallest piece count after naboo Starfighter,

-no minifigures

-not the most well known vehicle, probably didn't deserve ucs status.

Have you bought any sets this year? i can't recall any set you like:lol:

70736-1: Attack of the Morro Dragon is £29.99 in TRU, got a couple in the BOGOHP at the weekend.

Also picked up this http://www.toysrus.co.uk/toys/pdp/product.jsp?productId=0130545 as it was £17 instore.

Does anyone know if Smyth Toys are likely to do another £20 off £100 / £10 off £50 / £5 off £20 coupon before xmas based on experience from previous years? I know there is £10 off £50 available til tomorrow.

Smyths usually start one of their £20 off £100 offers the day after I buy something expensive from there, making me have to go back, get a refund and buy the item again immediately. So basically, if you see that I've bought anything from there in the buying thread, you can be sure that the offer will start the next day ;)

Sure, but I don´t start liking them till they make me money and so far there is not a lot to like. I´ll reveal all when the final retired product list is out.
