I must have missed that sale.  I only remember it dropping to $300 + tax.  According to camelcamelcamel it was never that low.

There was a sale that temporarily dropped it under $300 in around July. Also in March. I missed the sale in march but my friend got in on that one. Nevertheless, getting it under 450 now is golden.

It's been 20% off for a while on there... I don't like that it's still available at that price... Are they flooded with it, or is it just not selling I wonder. Walmart still has a little over a hundre

I still haven't picker up a SOH yet. My local Lego store still has a bunch in stock. I'm waiting to see if they go on sale for Boxing Day. Double VIP points last weekend just wasn't enough of an incentive for me.

Which location? I'm coming to clean it.

Price is going north of $500, if you are not cleaning it, there are only two reasons, no storage space, or no money.

I doubt they'll last that long. I'd ring them up and ask what their price adjustment policy is. Explain you really want one, have observed they're dwindling in the wild, and that you're willing to pay retail now to secure it, but ask if they'd refund the difference if it goes on sale within 30 days of purchase time. Many stores honour this sort of thing, but it's typically not advertised.

I think playing the waiting game is better. The SOH isn't some movie theme, it's an iconic world landmark with special brown bricks.

Long game is my only choice. I only ended up with 2, one at retail tax free, one at the $300 markdown from the first time it came around. Would've liked a couple more at that price, but someone cleared them out. *cough*

My friend got 8 of his today that he cleared from amazon. Showed me pictures, all nicely wrapped in bubble with nice shipping box. :) I got 8 more coming tomorrow from amazon, will see how they look. The trick is to order them individually, then add gift option. Just add some stupid message. I typed in the gift option "I cleaned all opera houses for brickpickers."

Not sure what the other guy is waiting for. Buying a retired set at full MSRP like the SOH is guaranteed money in the bag. Imagine if you bought it at $300 2 years ago. That $300 was locked up for 2 years with no movement and full of risk. Now the risk is gone. Should just clean them.

My colleague from taiwan checked the SOH, Convert from TWD to CAD, they are selling at around $580CAD now in Taiwan and he said he'll bring one over during Chinese New Year. I can't imagine how he can fit one of these in his luggage. Good luck to him.

Yes, it was ~$297.  Not sure where you came up with $260.  Typical post.

Of course I knew it was too good to be true. Got an email saying their system screwed up. They're going to honour 1 of each at their deep discount prices, which is better than outright cancelled of course, but it won't be as big of a killing as I was hoping to make. Alas.

I do not know if this is targeted but Amazon.ca sent me a $10 promo code on a $40 purchase valid until December 26.   Check your email to see if you are lucky.

Why don't we get BOGO 40%?? Isn't it all the same giant company? Why do they always comparatively shaft us north of the border? I guess I can't complain since I got in on those price glitches the other night, but still.... if they need to clear their warehouses out for new 2017 stock, Canadians can help too!!! : grumble grumble :

Amazing why it is so different.  Yesterday you had 2 deals, now a bunch, but basically all 20% off.  I would love to know the business side of it outside of currency differences.

It's probably because there is no (very limited) competition so they don't need to lower their prices.

It largely comes down to different stock / buying patterns between Canada & USA and business objectives. If your department looks like it is going to miss its objectives, you put on a big sale to generate cash before year end / increase your turnover, or stock to sales ratio. Retail is all about turning over inventory.

Think about it, USA is 10x bigger than Canada. If they make a stock screw up, it is 10x bigger of a mistake.

Plus, alot of companies are starting the after Christmas sales before Christmas now a days, due to the general retreat / difficulties in same store sales growth (e.g. you dont want your competitor to get the $$$, so you drop prices early.)

Someone was observing about the Opera House on amazon.com, how it was bouncing between $319 and $399, and then someone else chimed in about matching TRU's markup while it was in stock. There's something to it, it's very very rare to see something on sale at amazon.ca that isn't also on sale for the same price at TRU.ca. They must be closely affiliated, and I believe TRU is driving the Canadian Amazon market prices. Or something.

TRU has some Star Wars and other sets at 20% to stack the coupon with.

Coupon is for eBay.

This isn't being scraped by the tracker.... but I was just browsing filtered by 10% off or more (I had a buddy inquiring on whether I had any PFs that he could get for his Holiday Train so i was checking into 60051, it's listed at $124.99 which is actually 26% off... but since it was at $135 for so long, their "reduced price" is only coming up at 8% off.... anyway, that's a complete aside as to why I was browsing.

Spotted this for anyone looking to get in early on a discount:

https://www.amazon.ca/LEGO-Batman-Movie-Batcave-Break/dp/B01J8PBHU4/ref=sr_1_16?s=toys&rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1482103266&sr=1-16&keywords=lego

Searched some more, most of the other movie sets are up on Amazon for 20% off as well. Some aren't even listed on Shop @ Home yet. Potential short term QF window? Not sure what the demand will be before the movie drops... Haven't spotted the Asylum yet...

I'm considering picking up UCS Tie Fighter at $195.38. Think this is the best price we will see on this set? (Walmart also has them at this price, hence the Amazon.ca offer)

Otherwise, the best I see is from Lego LEGO Shop at Home for $230 plus double VIP point and a free Gingerbread Minifig and calendar. The only plus from LEGO Shop at Home is the box should arrive mint.

195 is not bad, but be prepared for label slapped on the box.
