LEGO has been really lazy this year. I hope this isn't the future way of doing business for them but a one-off.

So basically they had an excess of Gingerbread Man key chains and figured GWP for December.

You also have Darth Revan, Death Star, Trick or Treat, (Toy Shop) tech 2015 but I will still include.. The list just keeps on getting longer of re-releases. Don't forget they are redoing the Space Slug as a special give-a-way.

All of these things are not the same.

Revan and Space Slug are excess inventory dumps, not remakes.

We still don't (I think) know what was up with ToT. I certainly never saw them anywhere, and as far as I know it was a BN.com only thing for a few minutes until BP jackals cleaned them out.

Gingy and CSG are certainly remakes of popular CMFs and a lazy/easy way to have a promo. If I had any remaining popular CMFs I'd be dumping (Bunny Suit, Bumble Bee, Brickasaurus etc).

Death Star and Toy Shop are true remakes as well, but logical to capitalize on consumer demand.

They could have at least called it:

The Iconic Christmas Gingerbread Man

And given him a cheese slope piece of Christmas cake.

No mug though - original CMF came with a red mug with "Dunk me" printed on the side.

Bunny suit guy is next. We've seen lots of promotional material that used him for easter last year.

Nice minifig to add to last year's Gingerbread House.  

But that's all it really is good for.

After seeing the gingerbread man in person at a Lego store, the coloring looks different than the normal CFM gingerbread man.

Trick or treat was seen in Walmart and other stores. I picked up 4 of them at a Legoland Discovery center. 

40125 Santa's Visit resurfaced recently at Barnes and Noble though. 

 

Pity there is no Gingerbread Man in Star Wars. Fans would go crazy about being able to buy the same minifig twice in two different shades of brown.

That is great to see - Hopefully LEGO is learning not to hurt their own product (or maybe it's just another example of poor quality control).

Either this Gingerbread Man was more 'baked' or perhaps made with a dash of cinnamon. Here I did not think they could add some (even a little) variety to this quirky character. It would seem they proved me wrong.

I only just noticed this thing is not available anymore at the EU Lego S@H. I saw the A-Wing Pilot promo getting put up a few days ago, but assumed the GBM would still be available. Guess not. Looks like it's still available in the US for now.

The re-release barely seems to have affected the value of the original minifigure so far, but that was not a super high value figure to begin with. Around 10-12€ on bricklink.

I think Bunny Suit guy will be a completely different story. That one is valued at about 35€. Could be cut in half if we see it as the "Iconic Easter Bunny Suit Guy"!

I visited the LEGO store in the Centro Mall in Oberhausen, Germany, today. Asked if they still had the Gingerbread Man promo and the guy said they only had 5 left and they were going fast. So I quickly grabbed the new Y-Wing Starfighter to score both the A-Wing pilot promo and the GBM promo. To my pleasant surprise he also added an unexpected Snowglobe promo as well. And I also got double VIP points on my purchase. So that was a good little purchase.
