NEW BRICPICKER RAFFLE for St. Paul School (2016)

Hello BrickPickers...

It's that time of year again.  Time to raise money for my son Max's school, St. Paul School in Burlington, NJ.  After a very...VERY...successful first BRICKPICKER LEGO RAFFLE in which we raised over $62,000.00 for the school, it is time to start thinking about this year's version.

The money we raised last year literally kept the school open...which is a great thing.  It's a special school that once again was voted BEST Private School in Burlington County, NJ by The Burlington County Times, along with numerous other awards.  We picked up 25 new children this year, which is great news as well.

This year, Jeff and I will be chipping in some sets (UCS 10221 Super Star Destroyer comes to mind) and the school's PTA will be donating some items as well.  As always, I will accept donations from members that we can raffle off.  We got some really good stuff from members last year that helped sell a lot of tickets.

Last year we had ELEVEN separate LEGO raffles and winners from around the world.  Surprisingly, the raffles all were pretty much equal in tickets sold, with the 10188 Death Star being the most popular and the Friends themed lot being the least popular.  Regardless, the Friends lot still help bring in thousands of dollars, which was wonderful.

I am here today asking the community is there anything else that would interest people?  It has to be something I can buy and drop ship for ease and cost factors.  How about an Apple IPad or similar electronic device?  How about gift cards?  How about watches?  You let me know.  I want to sell tickets and I really don't care if there are some non-LEGO items mixed in.  I'm looking for ideas, because I have to address the school PTA on October 3rd to see how much we will be raffling off.

I will put up a simple poll to get some feedback.  You can also respond with some ideas that will give me some direction.  Thanks for your responses ahead of time and I am looking forward to raising even more money this year.

Ed Mack

  • Hi Folks.  I'll do the same as last year (copying Mos' original idea) to support the children of NJ's St. Paul School.   For each "LIKE" THIS SPECIFIC post gets, I'll put $1 toward the raffl

  • I think there are a few reasons. Overall, enrollment in Catholic schools is down across the country. I think the economy plays a large part in that. It's hard to come up with an extra $5000.00 a ye

  • Maybe we can post jaisonline's post up top so we can break him....MUHAHAHAHHAHAHA!

1st place: dinner @Ed Mack's house, with a VIP tour of his collection, and a "surprise" set to take home...

So we just walk into his house...look at his personal collection...grab something we want from it and then leave?

In for 7 more tickets!

Don't forget the dinner!

And eat his food.
Dont leave on an empty stomach.
Also gives you time to find his private stash.

I'ld take the dinner and tour from either Macs or emazers, no set needed.  I can always buy things but a chance to pick their brains and see the set up is worth more then money

I'm totally in for a chance to sit and talk with Emazers or Ed. Maybe a monthly conference call with both for a year.

I am always willing to show members my office at work. It's filled with glued Lepin sets.  :spiteful: If someone lives in NJ or the Philly suburbs, feel free to reach out.  My house is a damn mess.  Looks like a hoarder's house in the basement.  Sad.

Hopefully it's Lepin glue! Nothing tickles the left side of my brain like Lepin glue! One good sniff and I don't remember what day it is...or month for that matter. Can't get enough...how'd I get here?

Putting glue on Lepin bricks probably makes them explode...LOL.

They used Lepin Glue on the Galaxy note 7s and they seem to be doing just fine.

Rumor has it the Samsung Galaxy Note 7s are made of the same plastic as Lepin bricks.

Hi everyone...

The time to launch the raffle is approaching.  I'm looking for input for the LEGO set raffle prizes.  I will start off by donating a 10221 Super Star Destroyer and more....  Jeff will be chipping in some sets.  The BrickPicker members have donated quite a few already:

  • 21301 Birds (Salimr)
  • Comic Con Throne of Ultron (echin313)
  • Comic Con Dagobah Mini-Build (echin313)
  • A mint 7144 Slave I (echin313)
  • A mint 8001 Battle Droid (echin313)
  • 10218 Pet Shop (exciter1)
  • Rio Olympic Mascots set (Emvisawthatswho)
  • 70816 Benny's Spaceship (Brickcrazyhouse)
  • A special custom LEGO snow globe (Flanagan Bros Inc)

There will be a $500 gift certificate of your choice (from www.shopwithscrip) as one major raffle prize.  What sets do you want to see raffled off?  I want some specifics.  Can be individual or lots of LEGO sets.  Thanks for your ideas...
