LEGO Set Reissues - open speculation

As we have seen with 10249 WV Toy Shop, and the upcoming 75159 Death Star, when a set goes into retirement there is no longer any guarantee that it will be able to stay retired.  The reasons may be varied, but the facts are that there is a whole new class of Lego sets, those that are Coming Out of Retirement Soon.  Sure they might have a few new pieces, a couple of mini figures that had some work done, but for all intents and purposes its the same set.  So which is next?   My guess: 10179 with a new radar dish.

Just got this info from a reliable seller, a truthful source, he simply forwarded an official statement of TLG's ambassador network regarding another market-crashing re-release of one the most success

  • That is the beauty of having resellers around. You do not have to wait. An MISB 10228 Haunted House is only a few clicks away.

cafe corner replacing palace cinema?

Backordered first day of release would tend to suggest that sales are good.

WTS and 75192 both did fine. DS 75159 maybe less so.

Of course they're good now; everyone's hoping for 75192 take 2. How it sells in a few months will be more interesting. The concern is that TLG get over-excited and release more sets before the TM truly tells its story.

Considering the minimal costs to re-hash compared to the design/ release costs of a 5000+ piece set, I think Lego will do quite well out of TM 2.0

Yeah, the price of a few hours of photoshop box art and a brick separator are more than covered by the new RRP.

Stay cool - there will be 100% no identical Caffee Corner or Green Grocer remake. And as we can see from improved remakes, they don't hurt the value of the old sets to much.

Try to buy a 10129 or 10179 - you will still pay 5 times more than MSRP was.

The reason is that such not remade sets are simply the history of LEGO development and building techniques.

TM in opposite hurts the value of the old set seriously - because it is exactly the same set (beside the two minor differences). But when we we think more about this set, tehn we came to the conclusion, that there were not much possibilities to improve it, an interior was not possible in such a small scale anyway and the design still looks fresh after 10 years...

In case of GG or CC there will be changes like an added interior which was the most missing thing for these both modulars by the fans. Beside this there can be another minor changes in the frontage of the buildings. Therefore, I am saying, no problem at all with such remakes, go ahead LEGO.

(I am writing this despite the fact that I am owning all modulars)

I am taking the introduction of non-standard mini-fig heads as the beginning of re-hashing the Creator Modulars. I personally do not have any but want to get the new Diner as my first BECAUSE of the heads. With the improvements to the modular designs throughout the years, I could see CC and GG being redeveloped to make them more in line with the recent sets.

On a different topic, I am betting we see at least one rehash for the 2018 line. With the Ford/Porsche/Ferrari lineup, I think there is a good chance of a reissue.

I don't see them rehashing the modulars.  I could see them redoing modular themes.  There could be a new grocery store, or a new cinema down the line, but I doubt we ever see Green Grocer, Cafe Corner or any of the others reissued.  They will keep this theme going for a long time without needing to rehash.  Last years assembly square was a hodge podge of design looks from previous buildings.  That's more than likely how they will behave as time goes on.

The diner looks awesome, by the way.  I'm a fan.

I think that we can expect a green grocer next year in some form.

2 modular sin a year?  I doubt it...  the diner is next years modular.

By next year I meant December/January 2019.

Guess you were right...

Okay well, that’s not a re-release - that’s a building in a different scale.

I like the 18+ age recommendation...

I'd gamble we will see a remake of the Saturn V Rocket soon.

I also wildly predict a remake of the Ship in a Bottle, which based on previous sales makes no sense.

Now if only I could jump into set 21103 and provide this news to myself...

Anybody know the likelihood of Ninjago City being remade?

The 18+ on the boxes of the reissues is a reminder for how hard TLG f#$%@d the resellers who went deep on that particular set.

Ghostbusters Firehouse please!!

I predict Lego soon is making polls just like they did with that UCS Set to come soon. Then they Rank, then they rerelease a bunch of Sets under a new "Evergreen" line. BTW T1 is coming back with 18+ design of course.

so if lego was re releasing ninjago city, surly it would be among the new ninjago sets? as we see only city garden is on the list i cant see city coming out again...

Btw I dont think its good holding on to old habbits when the environment changes dramatically. I guess noone in this Forum ever experienced something we experience now..be it with this Pandemic or with the consequences for the Lego-market or the decisions TLG makes. So we have to adapt very fast. I guess standing still is Death just like everywhere else. And I really think (even if it upsets som long time Resellers, but I certainly dont want to. No offense) we all dont have a single clue what is to come, and everyone is just guessing. And everyones guess is good as the next one.
