Ideas #014: 21307 - Caterham Seven 620R

This is supposedly coming out by the end of this year. We're getting a bit of discussions in other threads so I thought we should have a place for thoughts about this great IDEA set. @ravenb99says it will be $59.99. What do you think of this IDEA?

Those are very nice. Love the rims.

Honestly, I'm not too familiar with these but I think they look pretty close.

BBS?

Sharp replicas.  I don't really care about the car, but cool nonetheless.

Looks impressive !

Shows the Beetle and Mini, for sure. In for 3.

I thought Caterham was 21306

If CSS is 21306 for $59.99, then 21307 for 79.99 is Apollo 11 Saturn V ? Can a mod, please fix this to 21306 as reported by brickset and @ravenb99

Adventure time? Not sure though...

At $59.99 the Caterham Super Seven looks like a must-buy.

Also, $79.99 for Apollo 11 Saturn V seems like a very good price when you take into account that the rocket will be about 1 meter tall according to the Ideas blog. I just wonder how much they reduced the proposed basic model with a piece count of 1867 to come up with that price.

$60 price on this set worries me that it will be very small :(

i hope that it will be possible to make multiple different colors though...

Yes, being able to change the color of this model to one's liking would be a really nice feature.

Having a unique hotrod for the LEGO line will make their selection more interesting simply on being something else than another Volkswagen or some other small car entry or even a more obvious popular choice. Great model for a cool car, and if the set number upon reveal is different the topic title can be fixed easily.

@Lordoflego My favourite color scheme was shown in the last update to this project. Unfortunately, the color is very rare.

Well, I'm not going to make the same mistake twice and post a photo here, but there's something on Hothbricks and Reddit.

It looks good, but I'm not a fan of the color. That's a day-1 buy for me and will be the first Ideas set I get.

EDIT: the set is actually 21307, not 21306, you might want to edit the title.

Was super excited when they choose the set but now I am much less excited.  It looks smaller and doesn't have the nice shape the original had.

Oh my, that's ugly.

Well, Brickset is reporting different and we already changed the number once so maybe we should wait to see what info we get from Lego. Just a thought. Also if the number is wrong, the price may be too. [emoji15]

We should know soon enough, if I cross my eyes, it seems to read "Disponible à partir du 01/10" under the blurb (available from October 1st).

I don't like the black-yellow color scheme at all.

It's worse than all the color-combinations the creator of this project came up with. Now I'll probably pass on this Ideas set. :girlsad:

I was really looking forward to this set but it looks terrible compared to the original ideas submission.

Really Lego?

Will be interesting to see if the designer of the original Ideas submission will compare the redesigned by Lego set with his own submission. A side by side review would be excellent...

First impressions are disappointing. It lacks all the nice details of the original, which I suspected it might. The black mudguards totally kill the look. No grills on the rims...no windscreen.... It looks more like a modern production sports buggy than a vintage classic.

It's actually pretty faithful to the current production, I can understand Caterham choosing this model to put forward their flagship (the 620r is the fastest Caterham in production).
