So today I overheard a Smyths employee telling someone looking at Lego that Lego in it's box is worth more than gold.

We are all screwed, it's the shoe shine boy moment. Ironbrick was right all along, the world is ending, the end is nigh. :sarcastic:

All the times I've been at Smyths, I've been the only person in the lego aisle, and I've never seen anyone buy any lego from my local store

That's just a salesman trick, trying to make more sales. Similar when a salesman tells a potential customer looking at buying a ... TV/coffeemaker/sofa (whatever) ... This is the best one you can buy. I have the same one myself!

Using that "Lego is worth more than gold" sales pitch by a store employee trying to make a customer to buy Lego. Just trying to boost his margin! :P

Every time I'm in my Lego store, no matter what I'm looking at, I'm always told "it's retiring soon." Always. So, "better than gold," just means they've picked up a newspaper or read any number of articles on the internet...
