Since you started with the little details: The bench is too big. This is supposed to be a Hobbit bench, as they're sitting outside Bilbo's house. So you would expect that the bench is built to Bilbo's size, not to Gandalf's. So Bilbo would sit normally with feet on the ground, and Gandalf would look oversized.

An unfortunate side effect of the scale and medium used. I imagine at a significantly larger ratio, it would be possible to give both characters proper joints and dimensions. As the MOC stands, they are relatively 'in scale' of each other and the surroundings although the bench is still indeed too big but works. Shoot, even minifigures don't really sit on chairs so much as in them making bar scenes with stools kind of awkward.

Yup, still use that photo on BL.  Its actually from an advertisement for super fine pens from about 8 years ago.

Was at the church attached to my daughter's preschool and found "the minifigure bible.". Figured it was a huge compilation of minifigure photos, but it was an illustrated bible with minifigures. I'm not a big bible person, but it seemed super graphic.
