February 2, 201312 yr I built one last year when they first came out. Great set, a lot of neat features. I don't recall any defective parts though.
February 2, 201312 yr Author Thanks for the response. It is a great build. My problem was the "flower" on the roof. It appeared that it was not ejected from the mold right. They replaced and it worked fine.
February 25, 201312 yr With this "potentially" going EOL in the near future I really want to pick one of these up. I still have yet to see a deal for them, did this ever have a significant discount or should I just wait for double VIP points?
February 25, 201312 yr This one almost never goes on sale, I have seen it for $140 once, another time, two years ago it was $125, it is tough. I am sure there are tons of people on here who found ways to get it on sale though.
February 27, 201312 yr Interesting. This set is one NOT recommended to buy on this site because supposedly people, along with 10197 Fire Station, have bought so many. So this will depress the EOL market. The last time I in my Lego store they had loads of this and 10197, but no 10218 Pet Shop. I bought one from them using points and got it for

February 27, 201312 yr Yeah I personally want to purchase one to keep and build first and foremost before EOL. The thought of investing in GE's is tempting if sales are right though.
February 27, 201312 yr Was chatting to one of the (many!) lovely Lego employees at my local store last week - she said they'd been told Fire Brigade is done, and Grand Emporium is following shortly. No idea how far up the chain this had come from, if indeed it came from the chain at all, but she was very confident in what she said. Of course, this could have been a clever rouse to get me to part with more money on my visit... but it didn't work - not with a birthday and double VIP points on the horizon
February 27, 201312 yr Lol all Lego store employees are confident and matter of fact when speaking to EOL concerns........baffles my mind really!
February 27, 201312 yr Stephen, you know we love to gossip about these things, the employees just want to join in. Don't be mean to them. My store said June time for 10197, December for 10211. I expect TLC (look I read the FAQs and have found the correct name for TLG!). When it happens well all be right with hindsight! 10193 went EOL November 2012. See. ;)
February 27, 201312 yr Yeah I knew it changed but when I see or hear TLC i think of the learning channel so that's why I still say TLG, its not out of ignorance.
February 27, 201312 yr Well you did ask to be reigned in. You are right though TLC sounds wrong. It's the acronym used by BMW/MINI for their free servicing packs. My lego time is the 1980s, so I will continue to use TLG!

February 27, 201312 yr Are you saying we get double VIP points on our birthdays?I believe that cheeka meant that her birthday was coming up, therefore getting money from friends and family, therefore more to spend on Legos on LEGO Shop at Home with the x2 VIP points soon.

Birthday next week, double points for all VIPs at the end of the month - perfect timing
March 1, 201312 yr After your replies it seems the likelihood of GE going on sale for $119 like FB is unlikely. should I just buy on amazon and use my $20 promo which takes it to $140 after tax? Don't envision a much better choice right now. Thoughts?
March 1, 201312 yr I would do that......its better than nothing, which is what we have gotten so far.
March 1, 201312 yr I think if any deal on this set can be found it's worth picking up. It was my first modular and I was blown away by the detail and really enjoyed assembling it. I purchased a second one to resell and while it will be a while before I think any profit can be realized in a significant way considering how long it has been out for, but this modular corner building is worth having. I also can say that during the build there were no defects or problems.
March 1, 201312 yr Took the plunge and bought it. I convinced myself I was only getting back into Lego for the UCS sets but its funny how my interests have quickly expanded to modulars and LOTR sets as well >.< I can imagine this is th case for most.
