Officially a 7 month availability at SAH and not available in all shops, that makes it an interesting alternative even if it is a terrible theme.

I like the set.  Should have enough time to appreciate until Strange appears in early 2018 sets for that May's Avengers Infinity War film.

Yeah but if it was a best seller then it wouldn´t get pulled after 7 months - that´s the same dilemma as always.

Have to remember that maybe Amazon didn´t get access to many units. It is SH theme after all.

 

Super Hero sets.... for some reason... don't do well...   seem to do better parting out... which takes a lot of work.

Off topic but does anyone know of sets that have been available at SAH for less than 9 months that have tanked as investments in the last 4 years?

76041 is probably the closest, at about 10 months life and it’s moving at just above retail, just.  

But are there really any sets with less than 9 months availability.  I know we all talk about Antman, but I was picking up copies in March when it was officially retired in November.

41177 and 78 were available at SAH for 6 months. Then we have Arctic Plane and RE as contrasted winners but there must have been some real turds too. 75150 doesn´t count as it is still at SAH.

I´m sure there were some Friends sets with short lives too but I don´t know of any site that allows filtering by availability period, does anyone?

I mean availability at SAH, as people like @exciter1 have 5 year availability for every set in their area.

What about our favorite Elves sets (Secret Marketplace, Dragon Sanctuary)? Definitely have not been around on retail shelves for much longer than 6 months (SAH retirement after 4).

The last pirates theme except the chess set all had 10 months availability at USA LEGO Shop at Home. 

But what are we looking for.  

There have been some winners that have had short runs at SAH and other stores.
Some winners that have had short runs at SAH but availability in other stores for some time after. 
And some that haven’t done so well, that have had short SAH runs, but much longer availability in stores afterwards.

Short run at SAH doesn’t necessarily mean low availability nor does it always lead to high demand.

 I was looking for names of sets available at SAH for 9 or less months. We all remember the winners (arctic plane) and the losers (hello Exo Suit) but I am curious as to how many others there have been.

 

Some Doctor Strange arrived today from target.com 22R6 that's like some vintage first production run they still have. 

Time to inspect those seals! I have 39 and 41s6

At 17 euros avg buy in I got 2 but it was available for 18.50 for almost 2 months here. If it gets to RRP, I´ll be happy.

Only 2 sounds ok for a try, I thought you went in big time.

Always in for 2 at less than 50% of rrp on short run sets. There has to be an algorithm about short run set post EOL performance.

Dr. Strange will be in Thor Ragnarok later this year. May just be a cameo but we'll see him, onscreen, again before Infinity Wars.

60059 City Logging Truck comes to mind, but according to Brickset it was available for about one year. I remember when TRU had them on sale for $10. Why did I only buy six?
