Huge LEGO collection (1978-2014 – 2000 sets) for sale. WOW!

Yeah I read about this in the news. He wants 80000€. I'm sure it's worth a lot more, but jeez talk about a logistical nightmare. Anyone have a spare hangar somewhere?

I wonder why he is selling.

I've sometimes really wondered people's motivations for selling stuff like this in one huge lot.  I can understand for stuff like cards, or other small space items, but Lego takes up so much space, who the hell is the target person?

Sure, breaking up and selling that many sets individually would be an extraordinary amount of time suck, but it would be infinitely easier to sell them off in chunks.

Or I wonder if sometimes people do this as another way to show off their collection?  I don't know, but either way, that's a hell of a collection!!!!

Not too impressed with his pancake style storage methods. There some very nice old sets getting slowly crushed to death in there.

Yeah you can actually see some of the lower boxes bulging out!

It goes to 2014 so maybe the original owner died or got sick or something...

OK true, there are situations like that, but in general, that's still insane if they think someone is going to buy 80,000 worth of Legos.  Unless you lived close enough to rent a semi, you couldn't really reasonably ship that stuff at all, so your market is practically non-existent.

It doesn't look like 80k to me. You can ask whatever you want. Someone that has the time and resources to sell it would not offer anywhere near that much.
