He might be fine if he can pull off this Harrison Ford staple:

 I have a feeling the best lines in this film are going to be from the Wookie.

It doesn't look horrible, but my expectations are pretty low as long as Disney is in charge of cranking out film canon.

To be fair, it is impossible to live up to the Harrison Ford legend.  Even his name is friggin' cool.

Chris Pine has done a great job as Kirk.  Probably watched that first one 50 times.

Agreed.  Shatner will always be the "Captain Kirk" but Pine is a better actor and is engaging in the role.
