Star Wars May the 4th Lego Specials Start Tonight

New calendar is up.

May 2016 LEGO Store Calendar

Tonight starts the LEGO May the 4th Star Wars Event.  To start with, you at least get 20% off most Star Wars items.  On top of that you get your Double VIP points on all Lego Star Wars products which ends up being a decent discount.  Based on discussions in the forum, it appears that many are starting to eye up the 75094 Imperial Shuttle Tydirium

  • Free shipping on all orders with no minimum.
  • Free 30602 First Order Stormtrooper (pictured above) with your order of $50 or more of LEGO Star Wars products.
  • Double VIP points on all LEGO Star Wars products.
  • Free LEGO-fied Star Wars The Force Awakens poster with all LEGO Star Wars purchases.

All offers are good from April 30th through May 4th while supplies last at all LEGO Brand Retail Stores and online at LEGO Shop@Home.

If you were lucky enough to get one of these invites below, you can get early access to a LEGO retail shop and hopefully get yourself one of those Limited run Space Slugs :)

I know this may sound like crazy talk, but there are some people - we call them fans - who collect LEGO sets and actually build them. Some of them even have the audacity to keep their sets, and never

Actually Lego has been very consistent that the sale is the Saturday of or before May 4 as it makes no sense to celebrate it the week after

Common sense marketing

Sorry to take the fun out of it !

You know, there's something about the fact that LEGO's May 4 event took place on April 30. I don't know if it's funny exactly, but it does have a sense of the ridiculous. I mean, you take something that started as a bad joke, develop it into an event and then push it out to a 5 day extravaganza of shopping. It's like saying "This year, Black Friday starts on Monday." I do have to say that I love the fact that for5 days straight, LEGO has to pretend like they didn't just completely skip over the end of April and the beginning of May.

Just looking at Lego.com today, the sale obviously worked and had an insane amount of orders.  Almost 60% of the sets got knocked out of stock and are backordered.  I say the joke is on us!  I know I participated, and i'm sure many others on this site did too.  And the real May the 4th begins in two days with the other retailers. Those other retailers are usually where you can get better deals, too.

Interesting to see that the majority of SW sets on the US SAH website went out of stock, and not one set went out of stock on the UK website?! Is the demand just not there any more, are Lego handling their stock control better these days, or are people just waiting for other retailers to jump on the May 4th deals tomorrow? Exclusives aside, I guess better deals can be found else where, 10% off and VIP points I guess just isn't that tempting any more.  It does make me wonder why Lego SAH aren't more competitive with their pricing on a regular basis, even when they add in a promo that you can flip for £10, pretty much every SW on their website can be found cheaper else where !!

Maybe there are just fewer brickvesters in Europe.

I see plenty of QFLL's who'll clear shelves at supermarkets when offers are on and try and make £5 instant profit per set on Gumtree or Schpock but there's not that many from UK on here that I've ever seen unless they just lurk.

I don't think the offers in Europe help much either.  I was excited for a bit of a blowout for May 4th and put capital aside for it but so far I've made one purchase at SAH and that's it.

HAHA !!! Yes as I was writing I found myself answering my own question !! As for the latter part of the question, do SAH not look at their records and think why aren't we selling these sets ?! I mean, IST, popular set, reduced to £72 ?! Big deal, this set has been reduced at about every retailer going to £63 for as long as I can remember !?! Why don't lego follow suit and temp us all back in with the VIP points and promos.  Apart from the initial exclusive period when you can only purchase the set from Lego directly, I rarely shop from them.

I don't know if this was EU only or what, but I had about 9 orders cancelled, because Lego stated via email to me 1 exclusive per address. None of my accounts got banned, I just had to re-order them to different addresses and they all went through, it's the first time in about 5 years that has ever happened to me, without a following ban from Lego.

Maybe the limits dont help, i noticed yesterday all hard to find sets now have a limit of 2, im not sure when this changed but it was limit 1 for months. The US sites have higher limits on hard to find items, 1 example being limit 5 on SC.

There's plenty of QFLL's who order from Lego LEGO Shop at Home and immediately flip everything.

I would consider ordering another EV or Slave 1 with the 10% discount IF I hadn't ordered them yet. Don't want to risk a ban. SC and Tie are too expensive.

Isn't that reseller bait? Who'd buy two sandcrawlers?

So you have two boys, both into Star Wars but not into sharing........ Or you have a dad whose an AFOL but son wants to play so you buy one for play, one for display.

Makes sense. But what if you have three boys that are into Star Wars, triplets perhaps, but not into sharing :dontknow: Tough luck?

I agree, the limiting of exclusives annoys the hell out me !! At least up it to 2 or 3 !! I ordered a Maze recently for myself then fancied ordering one for my brother as a birthday present but there is a limit of only one per person !!! Same with the bigger exclusives.  But as I said earlier, regards there pricing its just as easier for my to order from TRU etc. with a loaded gift card ! I managed to pick up a Kwik E Mart the other day from TRU for effectively £120! (sorry to digress slightly off topic)

If you have 3 kids you've got bigger worries than Lego buy limits

Isn't that essentially the business model of all printer manufacturers? Sell printers / bears for cheap and upcharge the ink/toners/accessories :money:

Yes, they learned it from the pizza business.

I have not made any May 4th purchases this year, i think its better for me to put my money in exclusives with bigger discounts, which most of us know do pop up from time to time but not on shop at home.

I have found the best offers happen when your not expecting it, may 4th offers are ok but mainly for exclusives that you cant get anywhere else or are going to retire soon (not that most of us would know that). Although may 4th offers were really good last year 10188 for £250 bargain  (well, now its classed as a bargain anyway)

10188 for £250 last year is no different from the SC being £225 this year, its still effectively 10% discount !? In fact last year 10188 was probably £247.5 (being pedantic).  That may seem like a bargain now as the set is trending at around £450.  In a year or two's time you may look back at the SC when its doing the same and say £225 was also a bargain price?!

I completely agree, maybe i should have put a lol at the end of my post. I do like the May 4th shop at home sales but my £98 10240's from argos look a lot sweeter than my £155 ish 10240's from shop at home. Basically may 4th offers are good for the average lego fan who doesnt constantly check for bargains like an investor.
