The very slightly flat spot on the plastic balls can impede the motion of the ball. The marbles roll unconditionally!

And to keep it all LEGO, you can use this ball: 99948 - Technic, Ball, Steel (fits 92911) (Though a bit pricey)

Also important to note is that he has not modified the Maze to give it extra tilt - he obviously thinks the available tilt is good enough.

April 15, 20169 yr I finally tried one out in the store yesterday as I haven't built mine yet. It is incredible how frustrating a toy meant for pleasure can be.

April 17, 20169 yr Popular Post We built this set over the weekend. I think it's a big winner. Really genius that they selected it. My son has spend the whole weekend off and on building new mazes. It just fits the Lego mindset so brilliantly. Then the little bastard made a covered maze where you can only see the start and finish spots. That is frustrating let me tell you.

He's 7, so it wasn't too intricate from the outside, but I was surprised how hard it was to tell where the dang ball was on a basic maze when it was covered.
April 18, 20169 yr One of my favorite games as a kid. I remember trying to beat my best time over and over. I'm sure I still have it in a box somewhere.

April 18, 20169 yr I can't wait to get mine and MOC up a new maze design. Thinking about a sports theme or a Batman theme. This is a briliant idea for a Lego model.
