A seemingly credible source on EB says that the 2016 Winter Village Seasonal set will be a new Christmas Train.  We haven't had a decent real train in a while, and with last year's rehash set there are Winter Village collectors eager for something new.  If they do this set well, it will be an investment winner due to the double category demand.  If you are still hanging onto 10173's you may want to sell off any stock before the official announcement and pictures. 

Lego must have produced a bucket load of trains, thinking that Autumn hype would shift them all by now.

Should have been a £120 set with the power functions included. People don't like paying twice. 

 

It´s done for another year so we have 9 months to flip them.

Don't understand why would you want to flip these for the next 9 months and make a few dollars, and what spend a thousand or more to buy them again, The Holiday Train will always be a great seller for years to come, I have 25 and may get more next October or so. My advice is hold on to the ones you got, unless you got yourself in a hole buying stuff you should have never gotten and need the money to Pay off those credit card bills, which I am sure many have done that.    Ed

This set is coming back in October (Lego retire them here) and there will be discounts next time round too. Better to have this set making money during that time than sitting in a loft.

WTS is done for good, or till the next remake so that one is a keeper.

as one of my fellow Britons on here says "rinse and repeat"

I sold one in august for £95. Sold it as I had to clear space and knew I could re-buy.

Putting aside all the "faux controversy" regarding Lego's relaunch of this set, it has done pretty well. CAGR of 31.61% since I bought the set.

I also tripled my initial buy in on the Winter Toy store 10249. If there is one theme that has been a consistent winner since I started doing this, it's the Winter Village.
