How does their clearance work? If you find those prices at your store are they national clearance or just for that store? And if they're not marked, how do you check prices?

I stopped at 2 kohl's this weekend and one had none marked and one had a few marked in an aisle display.

You left sweet surprise sets at that price?

id grab those at 70% off before some of the SW at half off. 

I think these hit $39.99 before Xmas, but Costco online has 10717 $46.99 shipped for members.

Still trying to learn the Kohl’s clearance scheme as I’m guessing many fellow BPers are.  Seems they tend to do a general 25% period followed by 50% several weeks later, although there are exceptions.  During the 25% period, I grabbed 4 of 31058 (Creator Green Dino) for $3.99 each.  31077 was also $11.99 at my local store weeks ago, I think still during general 25% period.  

From most reports I can recall, prices reported for one store apply to all stores (so national).  Hopefully others speak up if not true.

It’s also been established clearance items don’t seem to show in stock online at store  even when physically confirmed to be in store.

For now best method is relying on reports of other BPers and using the in store scanner to check price when in doubt.

Re: leaving behind Sweet Surprises - I’m not a big time seller like others on here, and already have all the SS sets I want.  I’m fine leaving some “for Timmy” as we like to say around here!

Maybe the mods can get us a Kohl’s clearance thread created for future?

$39.99 was the in store price only. $46.99 has been the online price since the item first showed up online. I suppose that $7 difference is their sly way of covering shipping?

I'd say the sales are definitely similar but not identical nationally. My store did not discount any of the Solo movie or creator sets, like others found. I've been going twice a week, since the sale was located, and haven't seen them add any additional sets to the clearance.

My boxes arrived taped together wrapped in a black bag. The boxes were completely destroyed. To return them is impossible, because their customer service wont send me return shipping label. Had to open a case with my credit card. Worst company ever!!!

And my set came shipped in a well-sized box directly from their US warehouse (even though it was a European box without the piece count), with the set wrapped carefully in a full sheet of bubble wrap. Needless to say it was pristine.

Moral of the story: it's a bit of a gamble.

Even if the box comes mangled, it seems like a good time to pick up the Porsche for a personal build. I’m in.

Yes it is, I've received both ends of the spectrum from them.

That said, those are great prices but it is a little annoying that they are one of those companies that raise their prices right before putting them "on sale". All those prices are $10-$50 higher then yesterday.

i picked up a few  60204 Hospitals at 50% off last week, went back today to one of the Kohls on my way from the office and 21038 adventure time and 21312 nasa women of space are now 25% in-store (same online), assume will be 50% in a few weeks at store.

Clearance tags have gone up at one Kroger Marketplace by me.  I haven't checked the rest. Clearance seems to be the same as the past few; 20%.

I went to my local Kohls last night and ended up finding a decent amount of sets marked down 50%, but I only ended up picking up 4 of the 60204 (Lego City Hospital) and a Minecraft set (don't remember which one right now). I also talked to a very nice and seemingly knowledgeable manager about clearance and here's what she told me:

There is no "schedule" for markdowns. They just added several sets to the clearance list in the last few days. All clearance prices get sent from corporate and the store has no control over pricing. They "aren't allowed to change prices at all". I offered to buy all clearance sets that they had (probably would have been about $1,500) if she could make me a deal and that was her response.

Also, no coupons can be used on LEGO, but Kohls cash can be used. So, the $40 in Kohls cash that I just earned for buying clearance LEGO can be used to buy more clearance LEGO starting on Friday. That seems like a reasonable deal!
