I tell them I sell them if they ask that usually shuts them up . Don’t feel like I need to justify what I do . I do offer them an item to take from the cart if they really wanted one , they never take me on my offer .

Man...I haven't seen an Elves set at a Target within 15 miles of me in the last month. The ones I wanted I had to get during the "spend $50, get a $10 GC" spree.

That Target never put Elves on the Shelves.

My go to line is that I have a problem and am currently in a support group for it, but it's not working. That usually gets a strange look and then silence as they turn around and leave me alone. Or I say that I have a Lego fetish and will be taking a bath in these. That usually gets the same response.

Most stores mark down toys on Thursdays. Typically it's every 2 weeks for additional markdowns, but that can vary. The "notches" for Target are 15, 30, 50, and 70. Sometimes they skip a notch, sometimes they don't move at all. It varies by store. In general, you need to wait for whoever is doing price adjustments in stores on Thursday late AM/early afternoon to scan one of the items into the system.

Thanks for this.  So is it safe to plan on just going in on Thursdays early afternoon and not when they open?  My store already had Shuttle and Elves on clearance aisle when the store opened.

Man, I envy you guys that have this kind of Elves inventory around you. This is my big buying theme yet there is no stock in my entire state for clearance. Everything was gone pre Christmas, which I took as a good sign. I did load up during both target $10 gift card sales, but damn I'm not jealous. That fox set in my favorite of the bunch as well.

I talked to one of the managers and in short, she tells me that only certain target stores have an “expanded” toy section, whatever that means. But essentially, only those stores carry technic and architectures, which would explain why some of us aren’t seeing them.

I’m sorry I’m not able to provide further info on how to determine which stores are “expanded”, but at least this can help eliminate the perception of randomness of some stores carrying technic/architectures and some don’t.

interesting - in the entire SF Bay area we seem to only 2-3 of these 'expanded' toy section Targets that carry the Architecture/Technic...

maybe - too early to say but there's no price to that giddy giggly rush you get when the incredible 5 year old inside of you comes out grabbing these by the handful and literally shelf swiping 6 at a time in to your other arm .  there was an entire endcap of these .  5 shelves.  i couldnt' even take them all there were like 16 left.

as i'm grabbing sets  and giggling outloud to myself,  a nearby weathered wizened clearance hag & her future hag daughter at the next endcap over are becoming curious about what could they have possibly missed that i am throwing these down fast and furious  like they are kilos from pablo.   "what are u - an amazon seller or something?"  - why yes - yes i am - what was the tip off?"  lol.

I tell them the truth. I really like Lego. If they say more, I’ll stare at them blankly until they look away and then tell them to have a nice day/night.

Not sure if this would be the right thread, but had a few items for some potential guidance for some target deals:

The Last Jedi First Order Star Destroyer™ 75190 - $79.98 (2 of them)

Creator Space Shuttle Explorer 31066 - $16.78 - (over 10)

City Jungle Explorers Jungle Mobile Lab 60160 - $33.58 (11)

I'm not crazy about the jungle theme...but everything else I'd take.

Went to a target in Tampa.

Me: (not seeing any clearance labels) hi, are some legos on clearance?

Target Employee: Clearance? What clearance?

I look around and I notice the target is pretty packed, and quite a few are picking up LEGO sets, which are discounted at other targets but not here, essentially paying full price...maybe that’s why there’s no clearance...

I have a feeling those people grabbing sets are more aware than the employees. Were you going by the price tags (or lack of stickers) or did you try scanning some sets, in case they just weren't tagged?

Looking at the Creator Shuttle as a sample, it seems every Tampa location had it at 44% off (all Out of Stock though).

Admittedly I didn’t scan. I asked the employee to check pricing and they went with the store website pricing, which matched their labels.

I was finally able to get to Target at 7 PM after a long workday.  My hopes were not high and were less after seeing the nearly bare shelves.  I was able to find a lonely 41183 Elves Goblin set in another aisle away from the general chaos of the day.

My find of the day was a slightly crushed back of the box Speed Champion 75887 Porsche 919 Hybrid set for $7.31  Going to customer service helped to get the repackage discount.  It never hurts to ask.

That elves set was for little jimmy. Another member bought 46 of them and left that one for a non picker. You blew it!
