I wasn't trying to be so exact, but even after fees my example should double the money instead of tripling. Cladner did a better job of the overall point.
Even with the pricing dropping, there's still some suckers out there, apparently though paying in the range (not my sale). I'm holding onto mine.

That listing ended without selling. A reminder not to use eBay outlier prices in search results without verifying.

I just checked mine a couple of days ago and it was still at $49.99. Was the markdown recent?

Yes, just marked down this morning. It was $49.97 before.

Sorry, I have to disagree.  Architecture theme is frequently on sale.  Most sets are 20% off on Amazon at some point.  Most of the current retiring batch has been 30% or more.

I agree, I regularly pick up Architecture for 30%+ off at Jet.

I am cleaning stores out of Architecture and Voltrons.

Why are you cleaning out the Voltrons?  This set is still relatively new.  I can see picking up two for personal builds (one complete Voltron and one set of the lions).  However there will be similar or possibly better sales next Christmas when it will be closer to retirement.

Yep, and these sets are everywhere, online and at brick and mortar stores. Additionally, because of its reasonable price points, anyone that wanted it probably has it already.

I just don’t see these to have much demand in a years time to push this to 2xRRP. Some will, but on an aggregate level, I predict flat. So if one wants 2x return, most likely on 2 years time.

Oh I’m hedging my bets, I have some, but not clearing shelves.

I see them in abundance in all 3 BN stores around me. Granted, small sample size, but I feel the only ones buying these up are people like us, and they’re still available at RRP in many online stores.

They will do fine, just not in any immediate scale as BB and OFS. You’ll just have to hold the architectures longer, and I’m just not willing to keep my money in these sets for such a duration.

My strategy is 1-1.5 years return on 50%-100% return. You can say I’m playing it too safe, but that’s my comfort zone.

To each their own.

why are we filling this thread over what someone considers a deal. Lay off the spam, post the deals and Merry Christmas!

The Indoraptor not being on the “official” BOGO list (as well as not on the exclusion list) just paid off. Picked up a Voltron and Indoraptor. They had to manually apply the 50% off, and in doing so accidentally applied it to Voltron. +10% membership discount and I walked out the door for $210. ?

Just some things to share about Voltron, so take this information for what it’s worth (not directed toward Mathew, I’m just quoting his question).

The B&N BOGO 50% off is the first time Voltron has been able to be had for less than RRP.

Keep in mind it was a LEGO Shop at Home exclusive from August until November.

I *will* own two of these for personal build. I stumped hard to make Voltron happen. This is a life long dream set for me.

I have not bought any yet. I am confident we will see at least this discount (25% off) or better over the life of the set.

No worries - like I said, if you're keeping it and can stack with other coupons and you intend to keep them that's a good deal.

Also, I can confirm that Costcos in NorCal are also discounting X-Wing to $39.97...had to get my local one to manually change the price but several other locations up here had already marked it down.

I was also unable to get BN to provide me with a second HP - they were sticklers on "one per customer."

what I find curious is the Hogwarts great hall set which has been a rock solid...mint it on Adamentium price of $99 when all other Harry Potter sets have been reduced across the board (other than the big one only at LEGO Shop at Home] considering its been sold (in high stock levels) in pretty much all the possible major retail store...I never see it advertized for a penny less than $99 (except that practically "bogus" doorbuster online deal that came and went in less than 1 second).  Curious if any other sets had such special treatment over it's first year (and what eventually happened to them)???

I get it...but it's not like this set sells out as I've pretty much seen it on shelves in Target and Walmart since day one till as recently as today (3 days before Christmas)...there seems to be an artificial reason other  than market forces.  This doesn't apply to Voltron which I have yet to see at Target or anywhere else...it's a set that inexplicably never gets discounted.

I have zero doubt that it will be discounted at some future time (so its not about being patient)..I am just curious if there has been other sets (that's on every main retailer shelf) that has had this special treatment? How does a set (that never sells out and sits on every retialer's shelf) survive Black friday and Christmas (and possibly after-Christmas) without EVER being discounted?

Nice deal, but not available for shipping for some reason.

Shipping worked for 1, not 2.

I will say this, not sure if sales weren't great, or if it is because the items are avail in more places, but last year for example my closest B&N had STACKS of arch sets. 20-30 deep on most of the lower priced ones. This year they did not do that. Just 5-6 per.
