So on the B&N stuff... went to 5 different stores today, noticed that they had a deal for get a $10 gift card with every $100 gift card purchased. Bought my hundred dollar gift cards then used those to pay for my architecture sets.

I paired Chicago with ET to come to 74.98 pre Bogota discount and talked them into giving me a HP promo with each one of those. Came out to $54.77 after tax with membership discount and HP promo.

Walked away with 11 HP promos and 6x $10 gift cards.

That's a very smart idea - need to look for this gift card deal as well.

Does anyone know how often BN places their sets on deep discounts like what we saw a couple of weeks ago?

2x voltron and 2x these little beauties in the kids books section, and yes, BOGO50% applied. Being a BN exclusive doesn’t hurt as well.

Edit: Regular $21.99, second one rang up to just over $7 with BN membership discount.

OFS back on Amazon... its been a week I dont know why I cant order more, but good luck to you guys.

Local Costco now has X-wing #75218 down to $39.97.  I know there are a ton of X-wings but hard to pass at 50% off.

Does anyone know if the B&N bogo 50 work if you use one excluded and one non excluded? For some reason I was thinking it has worked like that in the past with there game or toys bogo.

Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum mobile app

nope.. tried with a lego city set and an old Dr. Who Idea set.  They had to get a manager to override it since I pointed out the set was not on the excluded list.

I just checked mine a couple of days ago and it was still at $49.99. Was the markdown recent?

If you brave stores today, the Velentine's, Thanksgiving, and Halloween Brickheadz are $5 in LEGO stores currently. I got a reindeer ornament and they threw a VIP promo set at me too. They are $7 on clearance on the website, but limits of 5.

Speaking of limits, in the past, I thought after a week or two, you could order again with the limit refreshed from Shop At Home - I ordered something a few weeks ago, and tried again and it was cancelled with an e-mail saying I met the limit. Does this no longer reset on SAH? Am I just remembering it wrong?

Gotta be careful of that BN BOGO deal. Unless you’re getting items already discounted, the savings aren’t that great. Even with the membership, you’re only saving about 18-25% off the total order, if you order two of the same full-priced item like 21033. The savings became less when I combined 21033 and 21019. The HP gift might offset your purchase provided you can sell it but also consider nabbing a couple of discounted gift cards to seal the deal.

Don’t know about others on here but unless it’s for a set you think will retire soon or one you intend to build BN requires more stacking to make it work.

Can someone point me in the direction of the B&N/Google inventory tracker? I have it bookmarked at home, but am on the road and for the life of me, can’t find it online.

Considering both of those sets are Out of Stock or Call to Check, and both are near $50 already on Amazon, $60-is for both isn't too bad alone and then you get $30-40 back from the HP pack. You might be hard to please if $100 from $30 in instant flip needs a warning. ? We all have different strategies though.

you should really do your research before you make recommendations.  there are were a ton of sets already sold out at shop at home, amazon, target, walmart that you can pick up with this deal and already sell for at least 2x your purchase price depending on where you sell.  not that you would sell them yet but this just helps indicate which sets are going to be winners.

discount relative to msrp is mute if the set is sold out at shop at home and its going for more than msrp already.   no one's going to say which sets to get because this is a competition and its hoarding time.  look up stuff that is 3p only on amazon and if its sold out or call to check at shop at home and selling for 2x or greater the price fba?  no hestitation.  or if seller count is unusually low, also time to swoop.  sure prices will fall back to earth post holidaze a little but still indicator of what someone is willing to pay immediately post EOL.

the retirement list has been published.  the sets are sold out indicating retirement at multiple countries shop at home websites.  they just don't put the retiring soon tags up here in the united states to tip off the reseller scum (who don't think to look at other countries websites to see what's retiring).  there are no more mysteries here.  if you want to invest, this is it.  not as good as target's gift card deal which stacked with discounted sets and buying gift cards with free gift cards but the trains are leaving the station.

people will be F5'ing guggenheim and eiffel tower and high fiving each other for paying msrp in a month.  just like brick bank spent weeks where you could easily score them for $145 even after ravenb99's ingenious riddle revealed this to be an early retirement and now we are high fiving for msrp.

current bn deal on ET is acceptable but not as good as $20.99 on the eiffel tower which you could order for 3 days at that price with the target gift card deal. think walmart had them for $19.99 but i haven't gotten an order to go through from there in some time.

These are all good points when it comes to retirement sets.  At any other time it might not be the case.

then you get $30-40 back from the HP pack.

I get your point about the sets, but where are you selling the HP pack for $30-40 after fees?

I may understand your point on the mainstream lines, but architecture rarely goes on sale. The BN sale going on now is the best time to stock up.  Tack on the extra 10% for members - extra 5% for the credit card and the gift card deal.  I am cleaning stores out of Architecture and Voltrons.

Best part is the sale is on every architecture set except Capitol Building

I have never done badly on Architecture after 1yr old holding.

If there is an Architecture Set that is on sale but NOT in Stock at the Store, you can go up to Customer service and request them order it for you AND you will get the discount still. They'll double check on their Bookmaster Software but it should go through.

I did that with The Sydney Skyline since it wans't in stock in store and they discounted it for me, plus 10% member off. Oh, they threw in an HP Promo pack too.

That's one way to get what you want. YMMV but the stores typically do enough special orders so this shouldn't be unusual.

Sorry, I have to disagree.  Architecture theme is frequently on sale.  Most sets are 20% off on Amazon at some point.  Most of the current retiring batch has been 30% or more.

I wasn't trying to be so exact, but even after fees my example should double the money instead of tripling. Cladner did a better job of the overall point.
Even with the pricing dropping, there's still some suckers out there, apparently though paying in the range (not my sale). I'm holding onto mine.
