I'm wondering if we're going to have one h*** of a post-Christmas clearance this year at Wal-Mart given the huge number of sets expected to be released in January.  They've got to make room for all that new inventory.  Followed by the movie release in February there could be some great selling going on.  Of course, if some of the big Wal-Marts rollbacks we've been seeing are to try and clear a lot of that inventory direct from the warehouse before it even hits the store that might have a slight impact on post-Christmas clearance in-store.  Still, I have high hopes for December 26 through January buying and a good February through April selling period.

Shelves are pretty empty around here.

And somehow they will still manage to find a Pharaoh's Quest set to put out for you at clearance.

Some of you folks already know and if don’t then here’s a reminder. Avoid all this cancelled orders mess and back orders **** and buy these sets early when appropriate. Sometimes saving a few bucks ain’t worth the hassle.

Regarding Barnes & Noble - is there a limit for BOGO instore? and the 10% coupon for members, how quickly do they provide that coupon for new members?

Not a coupon.  When you are a member you get 10% off anything you buy in store.  All they need is your membership card or phone number to verify membership

Technically there is no limit on Bogo in store.  Some stores may have overactive managers who put some arbitrary limits on purchases

The 10% off is just standard membership benefit. You don’t need a coupon.

RE: Barnes and Noble BOGO 50% -

This does NOT stack with Batman Movie 30% - It will treat both sets as MSRP.

Also, if you are in store, it will apply the purchase to the lowest price item. IE - If you have 2 $50 items and 2 $25 items, it will give the BOGO to the $25 items. So do separate checkouts, which is annoying - as most B&N I have ever gone to have 1-2 cashiers.

So basically it's a 25% discount. Good on retired sets that B&N only has in store.

"Regarding Barnes & Noble - is there a limit for BOGO instore? and the 10% coupon for members, how quickly do they provide that coupon for new members?" - It's not a coupon, it comes with your membership. So as soon as you have a membership, you're eligible. And no, no limit in store.

Also regarding the Barnes and Noble BOGO 50% :

Doesn't work on the Assembly Square.  Big Ben is * poof *

So even though coupon find print says one per customer you didn’t have any trouble doing multiple transactions in store? Has anyone else had trouble? Seems like a YMMV kinda thing haha.

The in store signage doesn't mention a limit. It would be difficult to enforce in store. Since it applies automatically as opposed to them having to scan a coupon/separate item, there's nothing for the cashier to read that says "one per customer". And since it applies multiple items in one transaction, etc etc.

it DOES say cannot be combined with other offers, so a cashier could say, not give you the Harry Potter pack if they were feeling stingy about it.

I only went to one store, but I've never had an issue at any store with these sorts of promotions in the past.

Assuming you buy 2 sets with the same price.  The bigger price difference between the 2 items, the less amount of discount ($ or %) you get

Of course, I assume most folks here will want to maximize. Though I did buy an $80 and $70 set and  $15 and $10 set as I couldn't find things to pair with. ;)

Also, if you buy 6 $10 items, the discount applies properly to the whole purchase, issue only pops up with different prices.

I'm hoping so. My "ghetto" Walmart and "hillbilly rural" Wal-Marts still have pretty full shelves.

Also been loooing at the retiring thread for a list. Does anyone know which BN sets are retiring?  Seem like the best deals to pursue given the offer.

Is this a unique set to Wally?  I don’t see it appear on Target.

yes

So tempting on that treehouse. There are quite a few gems in the small/medium Creator 3:1 sets. This one might just be one of them. [emoji848]
