The Michael’s deal on the passenger train is tempting. I’d like to get one at some point for a personal build and to steal power functions from. Are we likely to see better than 30% off on this set?

Just went OOS.

Just went OOS.

Oh well. At least I finally grabbed BB-8. What kinds of widespread discounts have been seen on trains in the past?

I don't know about widespread, but Amazon has been known to markdown by 40% when a set is close to retirement. 60052 was down to $120 a couple times within a few months prior to retirement. Guessing that'll be another ~16 months before we see that though, as trains seem to run 2 years.

Dang...as soon as I saw the post I rushed to find some Great Halls but is OOS. I actually almost cried.

It always your own call, but for me, 30% off for something I definitely want for personal build is a good threshold.

Sure it might hit 40% or more off, but is an additional 10% off worth gambling for a set that you really want that you can guarantee to be in your hands?

I’m willing to gamble on a lot of sets that are marginal for me to pick up for personal build because they just aren’t worth it it for anything less than 40-50% off (or more).

But the stuff I picked up today - I’ll take at $21 without worrying about whether I can get it at $18 maybe in a few months.

For that size of set, I bite at 30% off for personal build. If it's a set I'm not that excited about, I wait until 40% or 50% (and just pass if it doesn't make it there). For sets that are smaller (such as a $10 set), I bite at 20% off for personal build, typically.

Their online inventory system is pretty terrible, so there will probably be plenty of cancellations.

Refresh operations control technician is already in effect.

it seems to come back in stock between 3AM around 5AM EST, 4 out of the last 5 days.

might want to check around that time if you are really serious about getting one ?

Also keep in mind that sold out is not the death knell it use to be.  DO is certainly on the short list, but its not uncommon now for older exclusives to be shutdown during the holidays.  They sit in sold out for a couple months, and then reappear with a fresh production run from late Q4 or early Q1.
