Most of the sets I saw discounted were solid sets.  In the grand scheme of LEGO 2017/2108, the 30-40% discounts were a small percentage of overall sets from the past 2 years.  A year from now, a potential consumer will not know what a reseller paid for it.  They will just want the set...and pay for it.  They are paying silly prices for run of the mill CITY, Classic, Duplo, Technic, Architecture, Disney, Juniors, etc...on Amazon, especially now.  Starting at a 40% discount will make any set a winner given a little patience.

The trick it seems today is selling on Amazon.  Those who can will prosper.  Those who can't will struggle.

My money is on another platform coming along to compete with Amazon.   It will take a long time but it will happen.  If places like, for example, Bricklink ADVERTISED anywhere, it would help cut that deficit little by little.  Maybe BL does advertise, but I can't remember the last time I ever saw anything that pointed me their way other than simply stumbling onto the website one random day.

Before I get hammered for, there is WM and other retailers competing.  Duh I know that. I'm talking about a very large company, like the one that dominates the Non-USA countries overseas (can't remember the name of it, ALi-baba maybe?) coming over to USA someday and being a direct face-off competitor.

Maybe this is discussed in some other forum (who would have guessed), but when did Amazon raise the buying limits on Lego?

It seems like a lot of the good deals this year were limit 3 where in the past they would have been limit 2.

Check your local Walmart inventory, just picked up 100 copies of 10704  @ $12, marked down from $15 (I know retail was supposed to be $20, but some stores started lower).  Walmart online cancelled every one of my conservative orders (less than 10 per set) since early last week so I had to go old school and load up the minivan.

BTW, I left 137 since I didn't want to be the Grinch who ruined Christmas for all the kids in this rural area.

On social media I saw someone who picked up a flatbed's worth of 10704 for $7 each. Still $20 around my area.

Speaking of Target deals, there is 20% off Kleenex that stacks with the 20%off coupon.

I know I need a bunch when I realize these 10704 are going to stay at $27 on Amazon for a while per @4cs post above ?

Call me crazy, but we are actually going to part them out, a total of 126 sets with 116k in parts. Here's hoping for some snow days for the kiddos....

The one store near me priced any less than the BF price was $10 and sold out.  Some local stores still literally have triple digit stock left, they've GOT to clearance those heavily if they can't ship back to a distro or something to store for next year.

Sets like these are great for GBCs, especially at $7 a piece, wow.  Less than a penny a piece :)

Where do you think all the Costco brick boxes in So Cal went? ;)

I have a feeling that LEGO is going to be one of the ineligible items..

Wow. That’s insane.

Amazon has 10405 for $35.99. It was the same price at WM but it's back to regular price now.

Was wondering if any of you prefer selling on Amazon vs eBay. Also do you think 10704 can be sold with “frustration free” packaging as in shipping the bags into a smaller (and thus cheaper) box?  Also where does everyone get their shipping boxes if you buy in store?  I use U-Line but they’re fairly expensive.  Thanks.

Slave 1 is back in stock @SAH for $199, limit 5. What gives?

https://shop.lego.com/en-US/Slave-I-75060

It's like BF never happened...almost everything back-in-stock and regular price: ready for the final Christmas Push.

The big question is not all the sets came back in stock...some are still back order (Aston martin?) and others like the brick bank is Out of Stock.  wonder what it all means

When everything is 40% off its hard to really determine "what a deal is". I'm concerned a lot of what i purchased was over produced because 40% sales generally don't sit around forever but we'll see. The ban situation definitely made me pivot away from soul crushing numbers on only a few sets. It will be fun to see how it works out :)

I may have been oblivious to this in the past but it appears more places are upping there Lego selection *Kohls, *JCPenney *Macys. The more competition the better!

IDK...the sets keep getting better and better

You don’t want too soft or it’ll just slide off, you want a nice friction to scrape it cleanly off. But it also depends on your hands and technique.

after 44 years I finally realized I've been doing it wrong (gotta wonder how I figured it out).

Wiping ones arse is a misnomer...the correct technique is to dab first, dab twice, then wipe.

An initial wipe simply spreads it around and one spends most of the remaining time just wiping up the mess that was created by the first wipe...the "dirty bits" is actually a much smaller area than we think.

Ofcourse if you have the trots and the initial drop splatters everywhere...the above does not apply
