I just bought a house and my mail carrier hated me immediately. Wrote rude messages on boxes he dropped off (not acceptable btw). However you have to remember they are hard working people and work hard to get you your items. Treat them with courtesy and help them out if you are available. We all aren't past carry a box or two :)

As the brother in law to two mail carriers, they often appreciate tips/Xmas bonus at Xmas time. It goes a long way.

I took a trailer full of firewood over to my mail carriers house. When I have pickups or deliveries we text each other. Best mailman ever. He’s retiring soon I don’t know what I’ll do without him [emoji22]

Does this really work for all of you?  It's no different than those restaurant deals where you buy $40 to get $10 more.  And you can't use the 5% along with the GC right?  Thanks for the heads up!

I shop at target alot. :)

And right, you can't use the 5% along with the GC, unless something has changed recently. 10% is more than 5%, so it goes.

As do I, but you still can't use the 5% redcard with GC.  Granted, you're getting double the deal but aren't there deals sometimes where you have to use the Redcard to get additional savings?  How would that have worked with the $50/$10 GC deal that just sunset?

Edit : fixed my original post

It is 10% off GC . so you spend 270$ for 300$ in GC

Yeah but could you have used the GC on the recent $50/$10 deal?  That's the real question.

I am also wondering if you qualify for free shipping when using GC.

I used $20 worth of gift cards and paid the rest on red card and still received the 5% discount. Just play around with how many gift cards to apply.

Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum mobile app

What I've found is that the 5% off still applies to the balance remaining after the gift card is applied.

For example, with a $50 purchase, if a $10 GC is applied, the 5% will still appear for the remaining $40.  A quick run of some sample numbers:

  • $50 purchase, $50 GC (paid $45 USD for it) : discount is $5, or 10% off
  • $50 purchase, $10 GC (paid $9 USD for it) : discount is (0.05*$40 + $1) = ($2 + $1) = $3, or %6 off.

Another way to look at.... the $30 is free money, but you need to plan to spend it soon and not let it gather dust in a drawer for a year.

Having said that, the way Target has been pro-rating gift cards and discounts on-line this fall has been bonkers.  It mostly matches my expected amounts, but the method they calculate it by appears to depend on the distribution center that fulfills the order.

It's always up to different individual for how to cash out the GC. Some ppl would prefer the extra 5% + extra saving in the tax when using the red card, some ppl may just go by the number as 10% off is definitely saving you a bit more. I think if your purchase hits $35 threshold, you are granted free shipping despite your payment method.

As for the GC deal, in Target store (not sure if it's still the case), you can redeem Target GC to a rarely discounted third party GC, like eBay GC, that's a straight 10% saving.

Anyone remember the loophole a few years back when the discounted target gift card could be used to buy another gift card? That day was gold. I imagine they won't be letting that happen again.

yes, before the card was activated right away, now they closed the loop hole by moving the activation date out by a day
