Being sent back to TLG...

That is a bummer....my son plays with that City display every time we go in there and tells me he wants it for his room.

They should at least pull it and send to another store.

Then it's like a hot potato.

I thought I read somewhere (maybe here) that they send the LEGO sets to other stores.

Many things can happen during store closings.

1) redistribution to other TRU stores.
2) manufactures may pull stock back.
3) semi disgruntled employees will do whatever they want.

Best thing you can do is just keep offering to pay for whatever you’re interested it. Don’t try to coerce anyone into doing what they say they shouldn’t or don’t want to. But, if you are there day to day and they are using a liquidator to do the sell off, they will take the money at some point for most anything. That’s why the main manufactures pull their product and displays quick. They don’t want them on eBay.

Being sent back to TLG...

My local Lego guy says they usually end up here. I know it says "Return to TLG" on display but in reality, this is where they end up. YMMV.

I can already picture all of the dumpster diving post headed our way.

The Local Garbage dump

Spoke to a manager at a store closing and she said they were told all LEGO is going back and won’t be on sale unless it’s already on clearance. I also tried to buy the LEGO displays and she told me they were specifically told not to sell any of these and LEGO will be picking them up.

Makes sense, TLG (and certain others owed $ by TRU) may have some sort of agreement to recover their assets due to the bankruptcy proceedings. The LEGO brand is worth more than to cheapen it and allow TRU to liquidate.

Anyone hear if 10% off Thursday will still apply to discounted stuff at closing stores tomorrow?

One that is on the TRU closing store list in my area is a Babysrus not TRU. So looks like they are closing both TRU and BRU.

Talked with local manager.  He said MOST closings are Babies R Us.  They are "folding" them back into Toys R Us (like it was 10-15 years ago).

Makes sense.  I never understood the Babies r Us business model as a stand-alone brick and mortar.

Interesting.  I always thought BRU was the only piece of profitable business under TRU.

OTOH, consolidation explained the increase of babies related stuffs in all TRUs I frequent

BRU is a one stop shop for Parents to be or New parents? Everything you could possibly need for your new baby under one roof.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Millennials only 16-17-18?  So them not having babies yet is probably a good thing?  Correct?
