Random question - do you know if minifigs will be able to stand in this if it's turned on its side? Don't know that this is large enough for the ones I'm looking to display if vertical.

Yes. Openings are 2"x 3.5"

Minifigs are just over 1-1/2"

I can verify as I have this item in my house. FYI the latch is weak so definitely would want to install it latch side down.

Just to add... from the info provided I think it is hinged so that it opens in the front. Great. I regret buying similar displays that open in the back (requiring one to take it down each time to open from the back).

Also a person on Reddit who turned each one into a small diorama said each cubby is exactly 12 bricks wide when it's on its side

I received my cards, called Lego CS and found that 2 had $0 balance. Looks like it's a big YMMV and how much risk you want to take.
