I just heard the distant sound of a thousand brickpicker car engines starting up, off in the direction of Kroger country.

Those are store markdown tags, not the corporate ones.  One Kroger had those up (going from 25% to 40% mostly) a couple weeks ago.  Other ones didn't have anything beyond the initial 25% corporate markdown tags.

So I'm guessing we are a few minutes from thousands of sighs as people still see their Kroger at 25%.  Or that there is only Minecraft and Ninjago left. :)

Yeah, even at 75% probably would have left those... based on my last small foray into 50% off Ninjago at Walmart...

Kroger is all over the board concerning when they do markdowns. That is typical.  I have gone through this season after season.  The two stores near me have never marked their LEGOS down at the same time. Each store is completely different.  It often depends when a manager tells an employee to do the markdowns and when the employee has time to do so.  I have 2 Super Krogers within 5 miles of each other.  One marked their LEGOS down over 2 weeks ago.  The other store has yet to mark their LEGOS down the second time.  So, YMMV

Meh. I was in Arizona last month. First Frys I hit had all the toys. I stopped at 5 others, and all of them had a toy section about the size of CVS' toy section without the same quality (lol).

Before my next trip I've got to figure out which ones have an actual toy section.

Unfortunately no Krogers anywhere near me................... At least not that I can find anyway..............:thumbsd:

My Ohio Krogs typically went 50% min off, sometimes %80, my two Krogs in TX are completely different. One goes %50 off initially, the other does a palty %20, then pulls them to the rear storage behind the store for a few months to later bring them to a clearance table for %40 max.

Kroger this morning... I was in this place every day for the past month... including yesterday morning.  Marked everything 75% off of already 'clearance prices' yesterday afternoon1f624.png

ended up with a few Kylo at $6, elves mine at $5, battle packs at $2...

woukd have preferred Belle's castle for $15, Poe x wing for $20, etc.... 1f629.png1f62d.png1f62a.png

Those prices are insane. I can't believe that is a normal occurance at these stores. The Dimension 99 cent store hauls were great, but these deals are awesome. Especially since they aren't a one time phenomenon and seen to be a common occurrence. Keep on pickin'!

Good info- got 6 dragon sanctuary $14 each last month at this store on a Monday morning.  Must have just hit it right before the other guy in town got to them... was looking forward to doing it again.  I was thinking stores would do the mark downs/restock at night or weekly Monday morning.  Now I know better!

The Kroger's you need to hit are the ones marked Marketplace. All other Krogers are as you described. It will say Marketplace in large letters on the building.

B&N gift cards are usually desirable to hold for clearance sales. There should be one coming up soon if following the same pattern as last year.  However, the 10% discount isn't too terribly exciting. We've seen 20% and 15% in the past on ebay from svmgiftcards. There may or may not be a better deal on gift cards as we get closer to the end of March for fiscal year-end.. but nothing certain. If you wait to purchase the theoretical end of March gift card, it wont be shipped to you in time for the theoretical early to mid-March clearance sale. It's also be a risk that you may not get the 10% gift card in time for the theoretical early to mid March clearance, but you might be ok since it usually takes about 2 weeks for the gift card to arrive.

Even though they just had that massive 25% (+ extra 10% off for members) sale last week?

Eh none, my B&N is pretty wiped out.. and I've been buying a lot lately so the wife is at her limit.  You may want to check out your B&N and see how much old stuff they have hanging around to decide if you think you'll be able to take advantage of a clearance sale.. but you never know exactly what B&N will choose for clearance. Last clearance in the later part of 2016 was almost all old Ninjago with only a few choice targets for resale. However, if you need to build up stock for personal use almost any clearance set can be taken advantage of depending on how long you push your luck for the deeper discounts. Typically architecture isn't part of the clearance sale so it may be that the 25% off is the best we'll see in a while.. but who knows. The gift cards on ebay usually only last a day or two. It went on sale yesterday so I'd consider buying today if you're going to pull the trigger.

Yeah, I think that is a concern.. but I assume they'll still run a clearance for other items in the store so they'll probably at least round up the old LEGO sets that didn't sell for 25% off.

The 25% was special only because it included Architecture, and B&N stocks retired Architecture sets. They had a 30% off LEGO sale for most of Jan/Feb before that (+10% for members) which included quite a number of sets (I was eyeing Fortrexes for $69.99 pre-member-discount), but no Architecture.

You never know what hits the clearance table. B&N tends to have sets in the back that they don't have out on the shelves (at least in my area) - the 21118 MC The Mine sets I got last year were never put out on shelf, they went straight to the clearance table. Also, my B&Ns tend to have one of each set on the shelf, but might have a ton extra stock in the back. So what and how much will hit 50% clearance is really a gamble at this point.

Just for fun, what is your limit, and what is your wife's limit.  I assume they are different lol

Her limit is any amount of sets that can fit into our master closet without preventing her from accessing her clothes. My limit includes the master closet + car trunk & cab space + potential cabinet space at work. I've been playing a lot of Tetris with sets and breaking down a few Chima sets that I'll probably never build with my son or be able to resale at a large enough profit to make it worth my time or storage space. I'm a small fry that buys primarily for personal use.. and I do my best to not buy for resale.. but sometimes it still happens. Only sold a few holiday exclusive sets on eBay so far so it's all theoretical. I joked with my wife that I was going to buy enough sets so that I could open a different one every day for a year.. it doesn't seem like much of a joke now.

Problem with B&N around here is the only one close is in WA and their 9% sales tax!  Kinda destroys the entire 10% off rebate.
