My 6 year ok daughter and her 8 year old friend built the water dragon tonight. My 4 year old son built a creator car, but can't wait to get a chance to play with the dragon. Add them to your study.

I should have used an emoji.  A $5 poly just sold for $200.

Do we know it's a $5 poly? Could be a $19.99 poly or gift with $200 purchase.

Or a $3.49 poly...

Interesting.

Our observations do not seem to correlate with the demand for these sets?

I would bet that you should be able to get one for less than $200 :)

First wave elves did not include dragons, and many are still on shelves for retail or less. We won't know how wave 2 elves/dragon elves do until we see some retire. But there are many on here who have done quite well with minidoll sets, especially when they are readily available at 50% discounts.

Thank you for the historical perspective. There is no doubt that my daughters love the new sets. Which of course means I now have to go out and buy duplicates of all the ones that they have built and hope for similarly discounted pricing.

Not a deal but Trevi fountain is available at BAM

Also at BNN

I'll chime in that my two daughters (5 & 7) absolutely love the Elves sets and the Youtube movies when I let them watch them. We've built the entire first wave and have built 3/4 of the second wave (Dragon Sanctuary was tonight) and they are pretty nice sets. Bright colors, lots of play features, and far less pink/girly/shopping themed then most of the pink crap out there. If you swapped out LOTR elves for the mini dolls and few darker pieces, these would be pretty kick ass for boys too. It's a great line, and since it's woefully unpopular, I think I've manged to get everything out there for ~50% off MSRP. Maybe not great for you investors/re sellers out there, but great for a parent who wants to share their love of LEGO with their kids and not break the bank.

Nonsense.  The only reasonable explanation here is that buyers literally prefer 30611 to 10225, even for the same price.  You heard it here first.

How is that a reasonable explanation? What you're saying is like buying a mini Millennium Falcon for $500 because lego 10179 Millennium Falcon went for the same price, according to your reasoning.

Found this from a seller on offer up for $30. Seems a little shady to me but she is verified through TruYou.

If they honor some of these prices in store, it might be a good way to pick up a Krypto as reported by @pete411

Great information!

The sets are appealing to my girls in many ways: Bright colours, Play features, Graphics on the boxes/Underlying themes etc etc... These are especially evident in the Ragan's Magic Castle set. But what really seems to attract their attention are the dragons. The water dragon, queen dragon rescue and fire dragon sets remind me of the JW sets in that each has a unique creature build in it.

You are likely correct that these sets may not be great for collectors/resellers but they are great for girls (sorry if that comes across as stereotypical). That said, for the dragon sets perhaps there is hope for EOL price increases?

And I'll add that Elves is also my niece's favorite theme- she'll choose it over Disney Princess and Friends sets almost every time. The dragons and castles are her favorites, and for her it is also the bright colors that are a big draw. In fact, she has decided that I have to be the one to place all gray and black bricks for her because she finds them "boring." (She's all of 7.) She also likes superheroes like Batman and Wonder Woman, but hasn't been too interested in the Lego Superheroes sets because they use lots of gray/black colors. I think she is going to love the new Superheroes Girls theme when I get around to picking some up for her.
